Re: What Does the Fox Say? Goodbye...

Are you saying that this is with or without prior authorization? Well, if the 70 dBu contour encompassed a small area city, an exciter and one or two bay antenna would quite easily fit within the 60 dBu. I'll have to look at all the STA and Booster rules, as I believe Boosters at least for Class B a...

Re: What Does the Fox Say? Goodbye...

If you had a spare exciter and antenna bay and transmission close to the center of population, could you just put it on and THEN ask for an emergency STA, audio? Or could you request and get a quick turnaround? Such a facility could serve a substantial population.

Re: Retro TV WHNE

Well, you said it was too much trouble to build a dipole. Just hang it up and try it then.

Re: Retro TV WHNE

You could just mount a set of rabbit ears outside at some moderate height. You'd get a substantial increase in signal.

Bob Pittman, the lowly DJ from WDRQ? I thought he was also at WHYT in the early days of Hot Hits.

Re: Retro TV WHNE

They also have an MOD for 6.5 kW filed which is pending.

I agree they have really done a number on the station though.

Re: Retro TV WHNE

Who's going to screw around with this kind of nonsense?? Better to wait until the power decrease, more issues to arise for the few getting the signal right now.Not a good scenario for WHNE. The geeks on this board. They might file for an extension of the STA if they can. You can easily get 10-15 dB...

Re: WKLT-fm, Kalkaska and WKLZ-fm, Petoskey

I think with the current state of radio and short term (at best) economic problems, less is more. I think you'll see a lot of stations filing STAs for less power and higher numbers of bays to save power. 93.5 gets out pretty well as a C2. The noncommercial NCE-FMs in the NW part Emmet County get out...

Re: Retro TV WHNE

My advice is, only worry about feeding your main TV. No splitters. The LEAST loss from a splitter is 3.5 dB. Many splitters are even worse. Put up a second antenna a few wavelengths away for another TV. If someone can describe exactly how to cut the cable and braid and center conductor to feed the d...

Channel 3 Dipole

If mounted outside, on any kind of support pole you might have, like a flag pole, vent pipe mounting brackets and a short piece of PVC pipe, and you are close enough, this might work. Use it on a single TV, directly with no splitter, with a short piece of 75 ohm cable. You might want to make the ele...

Re: Towers and lights

The Antenna Structure Registration Number application on the FCC website accesses a lot of information about towers. I'm not sure about information about specific tower lighting. I imagine that you can find guidelines for painting and tower lighting on FAA and FCC websites. Unless they are in a flig...

Re: WCCW AM tower site for sale

A lot of the Wisconsin stations signed off at 10:00 PM in the 1960s. I remember one that signed off for sure at 10:00 PM was WHBL 1330 Sheboygan, WI. I remember one Night in the mid to late 1960s, 1965 or 1967 I think, I'd have to remember the songs that I heard as it was in the same place on Crysta...
