I'd rather have them add 800 watts to their signal, or swap with the Big 8.
I think I may have a plan.

Re: Can't Get WJBK Off-Air in SW Detroit

I haven't heard WJBK since 1969. Whatever happened to Jerry Baxter? Who would have believed 50 years ago that the FCC could convince VHF broadcasters that UHF was better? Yes, if you handicap VHF with low ERP and a typically inefficient VHF antenna. Who would ever believe that TV station engineers w...

Re: WTVN 610

Anyone know of a real time satellite view of the WTVN site to see what the progress is on the tower replacement? The Apple Maps Satellite View on this device shows all six towers up.

Make sure you put the minus sign on the Longitude or you are looking at China.

Re: 90’s Tunes the Radio Doesn’t Play Anymore

Hey, I've been listening to "Brown Eyed Girl" for over 50 years, and longer than just about anybody else, because I was listening on the stations which played it first, according to ARSA. Tell me about it. Still like the bass guitar break though. It sounded better on AM. Sounds like knocking on wood...

Re: MRA Head (personal rant)

Gadolinium. https://gadoliniumtoxicity.com/help/symptoms/ I think this is possible since they rushed you out. Even the medical professionals thought so. Even though it is safe, more or less. It looks like the Gadolinium goes out in #1 normally. Although the colonoscopy does flush out a lot of solubl...

Re: 90’s Tunes the Radio Doesn’t Play Anymore

Apparently, THEY DON'T TEST WELL.

They always hide behind that. I'm sure Oldies 84 could come up with a list of the Top 10 reasons for not playing a decent track on your station.

Songs Banned By WABC And WLS

Rick Sklar banned this song from WABC, because he thought that some in New York City and elsewhere would be offended by the religious references. But it was allowed to be played on WLS and reached #4 on their chart. It cost the song charting much higher Hot 100, where it reached #26. Ariel by Dean F...

Re: Pipeline on the Telephone The 70’s Social Media

I think you could do that with the ***-9982 lines. It was a test line to check for line noise. After the tone, you could "hook up". Too young for that too. Never heard anyone on those lines. It was secret of Ma Bell. Not many people knew, except shy geeks. Old enough to be your Grandfather, most lik...

Re: Pipeline on the Telephone The 70’s Social Media

When I was a kid, the babysitter we had one year, while my Grandmother was on vacation and wasn't available to watch us, was a H*** Wonderful WAMM fan. It was four years after Casey Kasem had an R & B leaning Top 40 show there, his first Top 40 gig, according to Casey. They were popular with all you...

Re: “ I Touch Myself “ by The Diviynals

I remember when I was on a Home Tour in Bay View, East of Petoskey. The Bay View Association was started as a United Methodist Church Summer Camp, and still is. In one of the cottages, in a room obviously occupied by a teenage girl, she had written some of the lyrics of this song on a plaque near th...

Re: WTVN 610

Also, have you seen the speaker stack domes on the Civil Defense Sirens? It looks like a very closely spaced RF antenna. If you think about it, the speed of sound is about 1100 feet per second. 1 wavelength at 1100 Hz would be 1 foot. At 550 Hz, the wavelength would be 2 feet, 1 foot would be a half...

Re: WTVN 610

It appears that the short tower pictured is Tower 1, the one that collapsed. Are the tower leg concrete bases supposed to be that tilted? If they shifted, I could see it might contribute to a collapse. The whole thing looks rickety though. At least when there were dedicated payroll engineers at stat...

Re: WPAY

Did it take Rossford as COL because it wouldn't put 5mV day and NIF night over Toledo, or because (at the time) any relocation of a transmitter site required that service would be provided to a community that had no broadcast stations of its own? The APPs I could find online didn't have the exhibit...

Re: time

Because WYFC was on 1520, WTTO could not go North Days. And they couldn't go South at Night due to the combination of WKBW and KOMA skywave service. So they needed two sites. Changes in the Agreement With Canada allowed US stations to finally use 990 in the Daytime and Nighttime near the Border, far...

Re: WTVN 610

The 8 Bay FM antenna on Tower 5 is for WODC 93.3. In case any of you hadn't noticed, the bays are closer together than the typical full wavelength spacing-half wave spaced. Half wave spacing is becoming more popular because it results in less downward radiation, to comply with environmental radio fr...
