Re: WGVU TV weaker up North since the last repack?

Radio Chili, can you get 9&10 at all? I would imagine in Oceana County (which is in the Grand Rapids DMA in part due to 29&8 being an (historically) awful station [according to TV Factbooks in the 70s and into the 80s, 7&4 and 9&10 were more popular in Oceana County than WOTV or WKZO]), 9&10 was (a...

WGVU TV weaker up North since the last repack?

They were strong in Newaygo County but now they're weak up here! 5 bars has dropped to 2 bars! Anyone know why? Everything else is just as good as they were up here with exception of WWMT & WOOD which have both completely disappeared from my TV sets. Those two have never been very good up here (1-3 ...

Re: Worst-sounding radio stations of all-time.

A more modern horror story might well be the radio station in Rockford, MI on 810. Under the original owner and licensee, Jack LePayne it was the most distorted, low-mod, tinny sounding, low-budget thing ever! And that's speaking only of the audio quality! Programming was worse! It was goofy as Hell...

Re: Loud and Proud, WLAV back to 100%

If you mean Newaygo city, are you listening from up on the hill (south of town) or down low in the valley? Lots of stations struggle near the M-37 / Muskegon River bridge. Closer still to 'LAV's transmitter site! On Hess Lake, 2 miles to the southeast of town. With a 2 foot piece of wire dangling i...

Re: The Strongest Skywaves In The Straits Area Of Northern Michigan

I've never heard anything from Detroit at our place in the Tampa Bay area. On one or two rare occasions, I've heard CFRB. The Chicago stations are strong down there. WJR does well in the Orlando area at night. I hear the Tampa station weakly behind it and I see it's required to go radically South a...

WLAV's signal is not strong in Newaygo. From the old site on Pettis it was very good up there.

Re: The Ultimate P-Whip?

The Dutch research project also suggested that further problems with standing also arise as men engage extra pee-stifling muscles while using public toilets. The reason? The muscles engaged to hold in loud and embarrassing farts are also muscles involved in preventing further urination. LOL!! I'm no...

Re: CHYR Radio 7 Canada

I remember CHYR 710 blasting into Grand Rapids, MI every day in the '66-'72 era! It was even stronger than WJR's signal, which was pretty decent. Could never hear the night signal when they'd 'jump' to 730, though. CFCO on 630 was another 'long haul' to Grand Rapids in daytime with a good strength. ...

The first tower you see NE of Allegan marked 1360' is the one I put up in 1990 for 92.3.

Re: Reduced ERP from "Overheight" FM Stations

Not happy with 300 ft and 3000 W ? :D Was that on 100.9 ? I see 3000 W and 328 ft HAAT listed !! Was the station licensed to Allegan or just located there ? Mine was on 92.3 and licensed to Allegan. At that time 100.9 was licensed to Otsego. I put up a tall stick on one of the big hills south of Ho...

When I built my Class A FM in Allegan back in 1990, I went for height. 600' HAAT and 860w ERP. Great coverage!

Thanx for posing the question, Turkey! I was very bugged many months ago when this change happened and I couldn't figure out how to get it back the way it was and I tried everything! At first, I thought it was my computer too until I tried the other 4 rigs in the house and my smartphone and see the ...
