Old TV and Movie Cliches
Re: Old TV and Movie Cliches
There was always a piano playing in the saloon. But it would stop abruptly when the bad guy came in the door.
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

All LGBTQ+ characters are the “good guys.”
If it’s truly accepted, and not simply politically protected and preferred, we need villains played by LGBTQ+ characters!
WE NEED TRUE EQUALITY!!!!

If you want to see gay villains watch the 60's Batman Show, (okay to be fair they weren't all effiminate.)

In old car chases, there were always hubcaps rolling away. Often, you'd see 2 or 3 flying off, but in later shots, they would all still be on the car.

There was a FX Limited Series, (Mini Series) The Assassination Of Gianni Versaci about and him And Andrew Cunanan. He would be considered a gay villain although that term is a little simplistic.

I didnt correctly remember his name....though a person like that may be better off forgotten. Not really someone the gay community probably wants associated with them.

Re: Old TV and Movie Cliches
I was actually asking on Facebook recently what the name of the "Lifetime movie trope where the killer is pointing a gun and monologueing, giving someone a chance to knock it away". Lol.
Do you know what it is called?
EDIT: I should add that after the gun is knocked away, them and the protagonist start wrestling and trying to get the gun, but someone else shoots them just in time
Music is my life.

I'm not sure if their is an actual word for it. I just called it the "End Of Every Lifetime Movie". To be fair not all Lifetime Movies have this conclusion such as their docudramas and Christmas movies.
It might be part of a larger movie cliché known as the Over Talkative Villain. It's like when someone explains the details of their plot to take over the world before they try do away with the hero, (think James Bond or Batman.)

When a wealthy person died, there was always a scene where all the potential heirs would be gathered together and seated in a room for the reading of the will. There was usually a surprise that would cause someone in the room to gasp.

Reminds me of an old joke...Turkeytop wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 11:24 pmAlso, on the family TV shows. Father and Mother always slept in the same room together, but never in the same bed and never with the lights out. They would each get into their twin beds, sit up for awhile and talk about the days events. Then they would pull blindfolds down over their eyes, lay down and go to sleep.
Q: If Rob and Laura Petrie slept in separate beds, where did Richie come from?
A: Central Casting.
Shortwave is the ORIGINAL satellite radio.
Re: Old TV and Movie Cliches
A sketchy character is introduced by having them pull up in a car listening to Death Metal, (obviously this cliche is newer.)

When TV characters go outside late in the evening, the pavement is always wet. In TV World, it always rains right after dark.
Re: Old TV and Movie Cliches
Key characters driving a car are always able to park curbside, right outside the entrance to their destination. There are never "No Parking" zones, meters, or competitors for the spot.
Re: Old TV and Movie Cliches
Put on a pair of headphones and listen to some 'modern' network TV fare. "Blue Bloods" - everytime they're in Frank's Police Commissioners office there is a repeating loop, of varying loudness of NYC street traffic, very annoying, Sometimes it will even stop completely, then resume play after Tom Selleck says his big line in the scene. So, you can listen to the show and know when you're in his office, without video, and all indoor scenes are shot with one 15-watt incandescent bulb while outdoor scenes are so bright that they even have fill lighting, go figure? And last but not least, everytime they show an establishing shot of Danny or Jamie's police precinct, there's a very short police siren whoop added, like they have wired to the cop car horns- every freaking week. Try TV with headphones. I'm curious who has the best 5.1 sound- SNL?
