The Zone is back

Re: The Zone is back
Surprised he lasted that long. Corporate radio is terrible to EVERY employee. Got worse since deregulation. Yes, he reaped benefits from others leaving, but took a beating at Zone and Star, which included terrible pay. If radio was union in Toiletto, he'd been getting much much better pay, even part-time benefits. Good luck in your endeavours Chris.Heathcliff wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 8:58 pmOh ok. Not surprised Peapod left, he probably knew that the station's days were numbered, and he had no other choices for radio employment due to deregulation.
Re: The Zone is back
1996 Deregulation ruined local radio...not just the USA, but somehow it translated to Canada as well:
Dennis Staples said it best over on Pickle Road at an early Cumulus meeting: "This was a whole lot more fun when we didn't like each other and competed at different stations, it's no fun all working for the same company" (competition was good, made for better radio in Toledo).
Think back: Bob Kelly & Dennis (WCWA/94.5/93.5) up against Denny Schaffer and Fred at 92.5; up against Mark & Jeff, up against Mitch & MaryBeth (SPDy and K100), sports on the Ticket with the Big Man; Jim (Felton) Brady on 101.5; Mark Standriff on 105.5; and many more I forgot to mention. Toledo Radio was still really good in 1995.

Ummm... he was at Q105, other than the Zone, but not live, at the end.radioandtventhusiast wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 12:01 pmNot surprised Peapod left, he probably knew that the station's days were numbered, and he had no other choices for radio employment due to deregulation.
Re: The Zone is back
It changed ALL radio and TV. Not just local or only radio.
Secondly, I don't remember Dennis at the Pickle Palace. Was he in the "New" sales garage? When 94.5 moved in, they were not the morning show. Then shortly Mark came in. Now Dennis was out on Lemoyne Rd. And I don't ever remember Finn pulling 93.5 folks into his old world bijou office, soon to be the mini Star studio, next to the kitchen.

Yes, he was on 94.5 until Cumulus forced Steve Gorman Rocks on all of their stations.
