Channel 31
Channel 31
The channel that PSIPs to 31 in the Detroit area has been gone from my TV for the last couple of days. Where did it move to?

That would be ION Television's station, WPXD-TV. It moved from UHF 50 to UHF 24. You might have to try typing in "24" on your TV set so it re-maps to the new frequency.

WPXD moved to RF 24 in March, with the rest of the phase 8 local repacks.
Re: Channel 31
Found it. It does not come in steady; intermittent most of the time. Not much to watch anyways.
Re: Channel 31
Their programming sucks I used to get them in here in Southgate but not since the RF move.

Re: Channel 31
WPXD/ION Television seems to have given up on showing anything new. I think their last new series was "Private Eyes" starring Jason Priestly. While I enjoyed it, it only lasted 2, maybe 3 seasons. So, not being able to get ION with my antenna anymore isn't much of a loss. Still available on basic cable.

Philips indoor never had a problem when the RF was at 50 since the move to 24 no signal, I get 38 since they moved to RF 27. Another big problem is Fox 2 recently they are not coming in.

Hmm.
WJBK is the only Detroit market transmitter on the US side that did not make any facility changes.
Re: Channel 31
Remember, WTVG Toledo also Has ION. However, you do not get ION+ on WTVG. A decent fringe antenna should easily get it in, if you do not have noise coming from anything or in your amp or around the antenna. Point the antenna due south.
Re: Channel 31
The programming on 31 sucks not worth trying to get it in. How many times can one watch Blue Bloods or NCIS (whatever franchise it is this week),
Honestly they should move the transmitter back to Ann Arbor and go back to a shopping channel.

Re: Channel 31
Was just giving paul that option, as "they" never mentioned any bias to the programming.

Of course, if you're south of Detroit, that will likely get you WNWO Toledo instead.RingtailedFox wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 10:03 pmThat would be ION Television's station, WPXD-TV. It moved from UHF 50 to UHF 24. You might have to try typing in "24" on your TV set so it re-maps to the new frequency.

Re: Channel 31
WNWO's now on UHF 23. They had to move for that reason: they'd be horribly short-spaced to WPXD (and this is also why WUDT 23 has to move back to channel 8 soon, too).innate-in-you wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 10:01 pmOf course, if you're south of Detroit, that will likely get you WNWO Toledo instead.RingtailedFox wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 10:03 pmThat would be ION Television's station, WPXD-TV. Re: Channel 31
Almost all Detroit market full-service TV transmitters are in Southeast Oakland County.
WADL actually transmits from a short (by TV standards) tower that is actually just south of Mount Clemens, so you may need to turn your antenna to get it.
Unless you're in Lenawee or South Monroe - then you're helical-fastenerred. Only during tropo will it come in.
One thing I've wondered about WADL. Could they move?
Channel 38 was allocated to Mt. Clemens because Detroit was less than some number of miles from Toledo. It was eight-channel taboo from WGTE and fourteen-channel taboo from WDHO (now WNWO).
Those "taboos" have been changed. They have far less relevance since DTV reshuffled the channel tables twice.
Could WADL move into Southeast Oakland County with a different DA, with a partial null to the West?
Such a move would provide a stronger signal in Oakland County, but, more importantly, would put WADL where everybody's antenna is pointed (UHF DTV requires a multipath-free signal).
