I'm not enjoying the some of the new additions that much, like
"Somebody's Baby" by Jackson Browne? Really?
You mean we haven't heard enough of that overplayed rubbish song on WOMC for 5 years yet ?
Stick to "The Load-Out/Stay" and "Tender Is The Night".
Now those 2 are absolute gems.
Oh and they played Taylor Swift .
On the plus side though, they finally played Celine Dion and Shania Twain !☺

It will be 2 months since 98.7 changed to The Breeze, and it already seems that the interest in this station has finally leveled off, its quite possible that in time the ratings will do the same, if you go back and read everything we all wrote in our post (me included)everyone was excited about this change, as time went by some of us did say it’s becoming just another station, no big deal, as I’m writing this tonight I have it on in the background, and to be quite honest with you I think the “Oh Wow” factor is gone, just my opinion.

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!
My interest and excitement has worn off for one reason only: the new RnB heavy playlist.
If it stayed true soft ac, I would still be jumping up and down.
So, station's fault.
When they get rid of the "oh wow" songs, then they should expect people stop going "oh wow".
That's extremely basic common sense right there.
Old playlist, Phil Collins - Do You Remember: "Oh Wow I Missed This Song"
New playlist, Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight: "Oh Fuck, Not This Song Again for the 800000th Time in the past year"

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!
98.1 The Breeze in S.F. switched to this format THREE YEARS ago, and they are still an "oh wow" station to me. The PD actually cares about the station and keeps the oh wow songs in, and ADDS to the playlist. Not swap them out and put in "every breath you take" by The Police.
Why do you think that station is number one in their market?
Not just because of the format, but because of the song selection and personalities.
If they were to replace all the songs and make it sound like background noise like 98.7 is doing, I can guarantee the ratings will plummet.
This is literally simple common sense.

The first actual full Quarterly rating period will really tell the story, so give until Mid-April to see how this station does, in my opinion it won’t be in the Top 10, but we shall see.

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!
They already changed the entire playlist after a month of holiday ratings though.
I dont even think I can call this a soft AC anymore based on a lot of these songs. This is some kind of Urban Rythmic AC Hybrid now with a few soft rock tunes thrown in.
And wtf happened to Air Supply?
They no longer have a single song by them.
And 2 months in and no full time on air lineup or morning show.
This is something they should have been working on in November. Not 2 months later

"All the same crap, minus the rap" come to mind as a slogan!

That's SF. This is Detroit. Detroit radio is, at best, bland, dead and totally stale anymore. I' wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the exact same songs are in rotation next time the station flips...14 months from now. I think they really should have left 98.7 alone as Smooth Jazzy, but they killed it off for I can't recall how many "same-shit, different frequency" formats that have bailed water ever since. Sad, truly, because Detroit USED to be a great radio market.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 8:05 pm98.1 The Breeze in S.F. switched to this format THREE YEARS ago, and they are still an "oh wow" station to me. So because this is Detroit, our stations have to sound stale?
What kind of insane logic is that ?
The stations don't sound stale "because it's Detroit". They sound stale due to incompetent staff programming them.

He was pointing out the current state of radio in Detroit... he didn’t say that this being Detroit was the cause.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 12:35 amEd Joseph wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 11:11 pmThat's SF. Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!
Let's kidnap KISQ's PD and bring him to Detroit
But fr, I'll take anyone right now.
I however am very pleased that Tim actually has put in a LOT of my song suggestions, but I kind of would prefer to have an overall better sound rather than that.
No offense whatsover to Tim, as he is great at his job, I just feel that if a PD is very passionate about a format, they shouldn't need to be taking suggestions. They should just know already that those songs work.
He is a country fan and focuses all his attention on WYCD.
But I know he's trying to be accomodating right now since hes only temporarily acting as PD.
We need someone focusing full time on 98.7.
Entercom needs to get going with this already. It's 2 months in
