ARC Raiders Quest Walkthrough: U4N Advice for Unexpected Initiative

For players working through Tian Wen's questline, ARC Raiders Items can play an important role in preparing for missions that demand successful extraction. Unexpected Initiative becomes available after Industrial Espionage and Echoes Of Victory Ridge. Its objectives are simple on paper: travel to Buried City, visit two apartment rooftops, collect fertilizer and a Water Pump, and escape with both objects. The real challenge is completing every step during one raid without dying.

Why Extraction Matters
Many quests allow players to focus primarily on reaching a location or interacting with an object. Unexpected Initiative adds another layer because the required items must survive until extraction. This means the mission has two phases: collection and escape.

The distinction is important. Collecting the fertilizer does not mean the mission is nearly finished. You still need to reach Piazza Roma, obtain the Water Pump, and then survive long enough to leave Buried City.

Visit the B2 Building
Your first destination is Grandioso Apartments in the southwestern part of Buried City. Focus on the southernmost building, which is labeled B2. Once you locate it, find a route to the rooftop.

The building provides two practical ways to reach the objective: a staircase or a zipline. Choose whichever option gives you the safer approach. On the rooftop, search for a small brown clay pot with a yellow quest marker. Interacting with this object gives you the fertilizer needed for the mission.

Keep Moving With Purpose
After collecting the fertilizer, avoid spending too much time on the same rooftop. Your next destination is Piazza Roma, which lies northeast of Grandioso Apartments. Moving with a clear purpose helps reduce exposure and prevents the raid from becoming unnecessarily complicated.

The route between objectives is just as important as the objectives themselves. Watch for threats, use cover where available, and avoid combat that does not contribute to completing the quest.

Find the Water Pump
At Piazza Roma, head toward the southwesternmost building. The damaged rooftop gardens are the main landmark to remember. Once you climb to the roof, search near the stairs for the water pumps and garden troughs.

Interact with the correct object to obtain the Water Pump. After that, both required quest items should be in your inventory. This is the point where survival becomes especially important because losing the raid means losing the collected items.

Return to Speranza
Choose an extraction point and leave Buried City safely. Do not assume that reaching the second objective completes the mission automatically. The collected items need to leave the raid with you before they can be delivered to Tian Wen.

Once you successfully extract, return to Tian Wen at Speranza. Completing Unexpected Initiative provides a Toro Shotgun, Shotgun Ammo, and a Level 2 Shotgun Choke.
