Music Adjustment at 101.3
I've noticed a music adjustment at 101.3 the past couple of days. Out is most of the 60's and 70's. In is the 80's. For my listening pleasure, a change I'm not enamored by. They should have made this change in the time between 98.7 going to the sports format and before 100.5 became an 80's classic hits station. Now we have 2 stations playing pretty much the same overplayed 80's stuff.

Re: Music Adjustment at 101.3
I agree that it was stupid of iHM not to make the change in December.
I prefer 100.5's playlist to the log I'm seeing for 101.3. Too many sappy songs on 101.3's playlist.
80s are the preeminent decade for 101.3 now, but I do still see some 70s songs. Black or White by Michael Jackson (released autumn 1991) is the youngest song I see so far.
I would love to see a Variety Hits format on 101.3 personally.
Edit - I've heard a couple titles from the mid 90s in the past 90 minutes, "Don't Speak" by No Doubt and "Push" by Matchbox 20.
Edit #2 - There is certainly some similarity now, music wise, to Big 95.7 in Milwaukee.

I heard Anytime you need a friend by mariah carey on on 101.3 today, Wouldn't be surprised if 105.7 goes almost all 2000s and up.

They're playing Nickelback in rotation.
They are also playing that nauseating song from the Grease movie.

Looks like 101.3 switched to another corporate iHeart music log. Best I can figure they were previously airing the "Real Oldies" format with some additional '80s titles added in. Now they're airing the "Big Classic Hits" playlist.

iHeart calls what The (not) New Big 101.3 used to play “Real Oldies”?
https://live365.com/station/Real-Oldies ... dio-a67594
The format of the former 1480/850. That’s Real oldies. Much better option.
On OTA, 100.5 can do the ‘80’s fine, but Big Media Conglomerate will try to steamroll the competition with its’ shiny audio and continuous self-promotion. Very appropriate for 1980’s, if you think about it.

Yep, a format that plays Cyndi Lauper, the Eurythmics and Madonna is branded as "Real Oldies." Personally when I think of "Real Oldies" I think of what 1530 WSAI in Cincy used to play many years ago.

Re: Music Adjustment at 101.3
I guess 101.3's sped-up music fits better with the '80s than with the '60s, since that's something a number of CHRs were doing in the '80s.Musicrewired wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2026 6:30 am iHeart calls what The (not) New Big 101.3 used to play “Real Oldies”?

Re: Music Adjustment at 101.3
Very true!
Should 101.3 consider a return to classic rock?
Eric Zane, a veteran rock radio personality, is already heard on 101.3. Iconic GR radio personality Rob Brandt also works for iHM (he is handling either middays or afternoons for Detroit's WLLZ).
Why not relaunch The Fox with Zane, Brandt and L.T. as on-air jocks? Have Ann Carlini voice track a shift, too.
101.3 has a strong signal in many of the areas where 96.9 saw a signal strength decrease upon its relocation to Allendale.

I heard Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" on Big 101.3 this afternoon. That song came out in 2000!

Re: Music Adjustment at 101.3
93.5 WHMI in Howell, which probably features a comparable playlist now, played two songs from the current century in the past hour ("Who Says You Can't Go Home" and Uncle Kracker's awful remake of "Drift Away"). In the past, I've heard them play songs as recent as Pharrell Williams' "Happy" (2014).
Hell, in the '60s and '70s, Top 40 stations considered anything more than a few months old to be "Solid Gold", and stations imaged around oldies or solid gold often played currents ("future gold") mixed in.

Re: Music Adjustment at 101.3
Currently, there is significant overlap with Star 105.7. Will be interesting to see if any changes are made given Star's solid 12+ numbers in the last book. The newer 90's/00's titles on Big 101.3 stick out like a sore thumb. I heard Hey Ya by Outkast this afternoon and while I like the song, it was quite unexpected following Sweet Home Alabama
