4 runs investigations (well it’s labeled Local 4 Investigates) but unless you want to count Karen Drew they don’t really have an investigative reporter to go with it… kinda sad.Newsman123 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 6:13 pm He meant.. there are only two investigative reporters left in the market. Ross and Heather at 7.
Each station used to have a robust team. It’s very sad.
Rob wont be replaced. These positions are being eliminated. The Fox O and O in Atlanta had one of the most honored I Team’s in the US. Fox shut it down earlier this year. As contracts come up, they arent offering new ones.
Him and Scott Lewis should do a podcast together where they bust scam artists, even go to like India.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 9:28 pm Rob is arguably a legendary reporter in this market. I had a feeling his retirement was gonna happen soon.
I will definitely miss his reports; he was one of a kind and is damn good at his craft.
I agree 100%. They should go bust Tommy Tooter for his crimes against humanity.48125er wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 5:58 pmHim and Scott Lewis should do a podcast together where they bust scam artists, even go to like India.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 9:28 pm Rob is arguably a legendary reporter in this market. The only thing I disagree with here is that I don't think it is up for argument. That man is a legend and his team puts in legwork. If you have as little of a life as I do and sit down and break down some of these pieces and do your own due diligence, you see that his team had actually gone in deep on these scammers and that they only presented what was most important. Not a single second of time is wasted and no one can say that nowadays. He respects the value of the consumer's time to a degree no one does today.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 9:28 pm Rob is arguably a legendary reporter in this market. I see- it was in context of Detroit market not just channel 2... maybe its a new thing at Fox and hopefully not everywhere. Agree Wolchek was one of if not the best in depth investigative reporters there were, he will be missed.Newsman123 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 6:13 pm He meant.. there are only two investigative reporters left in the market. I doubt it on the radio… that seems to be in a state of constant cutting and atrophy now.hb2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 17, 2025 9:25 pmI see- it was in context of Detroit market not just channel 2... maybe its a new thing at Fox and hopefully not everywhere. Wonder if there is any real job market in tv for investigative reporters anymore or locally if maybe WWJ or WJR is looking to expand their programming in any way to include an deep investigative program related to local issues- one that relates to Wolchek's on 2 but maybe in radio form?
