Unsurprising that Custer would latch onto an even bigger narcissist than himself.

Chris Swanson is a prototype con artist grifter type of person. If he wasn't a lawman he'd probably be preaching on Sundays. Hell, he's already a "motivational speaker" LOL.

Once he did that protest march PR stunt a few years back it was obvious he was building towards a bigger political career.

Swanson has too big of an ego, and Custer will just stroke that ego, to realize he has no chance in winning the primary for Governor

LOL, not only is the Custer defense force is still going strong there is apparently a band of Swanson simps, too?

Benson will probably get the D ticket but Swanson has a chance. He's a showman and orator, and if enough people hear him speak they might be swayed. The man has done an admirable job as sheriff. Unless he has some skeletons in the closet he could give Benson a tough primary. Plus Whitmer declined to endorse anyone, which probably helps him as she'd have otherwise backed Benson.

As for Custer, it's kind of pathetic to see him working for a political campaign after getting fired. Unless he doesn't want to be an anchor or reporter elsewhere, did the way he was fired from WNEM (claims it was for criticizing leadership to HR) burn his bridges to the industry?

Considering he is suing TV5 over his termination from there, I would tend to believe that this was Custer’s “last stand” 🤣 in the broadcasting field. IMO, I don’t think that either ABC12 or NBC25/FOX66 would touch him with a ten foot pole because of that baggage

Sure, he's cooked in this viewing area, but I was wondering if the fallout with WNEM would affect his prospects elsewhere such that other stations would view him as a liability, someone who might butt heads with leadership and create drama whom they wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole

At the very least his gig with Swanson keeps him busy until the lawsuit finishes. If Swanson wins, Custer gets a cushy job in Lansing and new career track. If Swanson loses, and Custer doesn't work in news again, maybe he'll have to open another salon or sell more holiday sweaters?

The real winner here is the TV 5 viewer.
