WTRX and WWCK-AM going dark

This leaves no commercial AM stations left in Flint.

I thought AM 600 had a commercial license?

I'm a little surprised 1340 & 106.1 in Grand Rapids weren't included in this round of sign-offs. Ditto 1290 in Ann Arbor, which might have a grand total of a thousand listeners a week.

Perhaps I should have said "secular" instead of "commercial". Either way, this past year has not been kind to heritage AM stations in Flint.

Both 1570 and 107.3 have signed off or will be signing off this weekend.

The Classic Hits 107.3 website has already been taken offline.

The CK105.5 site redirects to a generic Cumulus Media corporate page.

The Z92.7 page is working normally. Ditto B95.

Makes me wonder if they’re going to flip CK105.5 to a simulcast of a Tri City station

A simulcast of Wheelz 104.5 would be a smart move perhaps.

Or Z93 as Banana 101.5 is primarily mainstream rock, not active rock, anymore

Is 1420 WFLT commercial or non-comm?

I forgot about that one (oops).

I believe that one is a commercial license.

1330's signal was abysmal last time I was in that area. No surprise it's going away. This also leaves Flint without a market sports station.

Though they don't subscribe in the Flint market, I'd be willing to bet 97-1 The Ticket has more listeners in Flint than WTRX did.
It wouldn't surprise me to see a Christian broadcaster make a play for 1570/107.3, maybe Ave Maria. I suspect 1330, not having a translator, is done for.

97.1 used to be listed in the publicly published Flint Nielsen Audio results. They usually scored between a 1.5 and 3 share (usually closer to the lower end of that range).

1330 for each of the past three books scored a pitiful 0.3 share.

There definitely is a significant area between Flint and Saginaw where neither 97.1 nor Pinconning's 100.9 can be received reliably. There are other FM stations in the area that offer some live play by play, though.

CK 105.5’s webpage is back up and running this morning.

Was still hoping for a format flip and simulcast of a Tri Cities station
