A place to discuss broadband, streaming video, cable, and satellite services (not programming). Bitch about your crappy cable, satellite or streaming video provider here! This is also the place to talk about channel line-ups, packages, and special offers.
I'm not happy about this. The normal monthly rate will rise from $72.99 to $82.99 beginning January 13.
The last price increase occurred March 2023, when the rate was raised from $64.99 to $72.99.
YouTube TV has always worked hard to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want, with features that make it easy to enjoy the best of live TV.
To keep up with the rising cost of content and the investments we make in the quality of our service, we’re updating our monthly price from $72.99/month to $82.99/month starting January 13, 2025.
We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize this has an impact on our members. We are committed to bringing you features that are changing the way we watch live TV, like unlimited DVR storage and multiview*, and supporting YouTube TV’s breadth of content and vast on-demand library of movies and shows.
The price of your YouTube TV Base Plan membership will change in your first billing cycle on or after January 13, 2025, and will be charged to your payment method on file going forward. To view your current plan, go to Settings > Membership for updated information. If you are currently on a trial or promotional price for the Base Plan, that promotion is still honored and unchanged.

Like any price increase, I'm not crazy about it either. I will say though, I overall really like YouTubeTV. I had Hulu Live for about 3 years before switching a little over a year ago, and YTTV is far less glitchy than Hulu and has better features. And being a streamer, I really enjoy being able to easily take it with me when travelling. I can log into a TV in a hotel or VRBO and have my full channel options.
I'll bitch and complain, and look for alternatives, but will probably just end up paying the extra 10. However, it is painful knowing that 5 years ago I was paying $34.99/month for Hulu Live for essentially the same channel lineup.
I love the unlimited DVR. I pretty much tape every sporting event imaginable and always have it available to watch. I also like the multi-view to watch 4 games at a time.
I hate the price increase but it's still a bargain compared to cable, especially if you have multiple rooms with TVs. Paying to rent the equipment boxes pisses me off more than anything.
Well, I just tried - and I was not offered the discount. I assume it's because I still have one upcoming billing (on Christmas Day, coincidentally) at the current $72.99 rate.
I will try again in a couple weeks.

It worked for me this time. I just received my new bill, at the higher rate of $82.99/month.
I signed into my account in a PC browser to cancel, cited cost as the reason, and now I will only be charged $72.99/month for each of the next six billing cycles.
In late summer, I'll initiate the cancellation process again to see if I'm offered a new discounted rate.

Price hikes for Netflix. If that Tyson/Paul shitshow attracted a new breed of viewer, I anticipate losing interest in Netflix soon.
Netflix announced Tuesday it will raise prices on most of its subscription tiers in the US and Canada after the streaming giant reported 19 million new subscribers in the last quarter of 2024.
The jump in subscribers, Netflix’s biggest-ever, puts the streaming giant at 302 million globally, solidifying the company’s hold on the top spot in the industry.
Netflix attributed the service’s latest success to the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul boxing match in November, which it said drew 108 million viewers worldwide, making it the most-streamed sporting event ever. Netflix later hosted two Christmas Day NFL games, which averaged 30 million global viewers, making them the most-streamed football games in history.
Subscriptions were also buoyed by the success of “Squid Game” season two, the platform’s biggest premiere to date, which drew 68 million views in its first week. Earlier this month, Netflix also added WWE “Raw” live broadcasts on Monday nights.
The price increases announced Tuesday will see the standard monthly membership without advertisements increase from $15.49 to $17.99, while a standard account with ads will rise one dollar to $7.99. Its highest-priced premium tier, which includes 4K video quality, will increase by $2 to $24.99.

cut the cord they said, you'll save money they said..... (and you just might be), but these "streaming bundles" are just cable delivered a different way

Thanks for this. I just did this and saved the $10/mo for the next 6 months. That was easy.

Thanks for the info. I re-subscribed to Netflix for the Christmas Day NFL telecasts. It is time for me to cancel again.
$25/mo for adless NF is absurd. Buh-bye marketing dipsh*ts @ NF...
