WNIC flips to all-Christmas

I think this is the first time they've ever made the flip to all-Christmas on the weekend.

Friday evening, they still had normal programming on the air - 80s at Eight, for example.

That’s odd….they flipped in the 8:00am hour on Friday…did they revert back to the non-Christmas format later that day; and switch again on Saturday?

People are jumping the gun on Christmas too much nowadays. My wife made me go shopping with her for decorations this afternoon.

Yes, it's too early, but IMO still an improvement on their schizo "ABCDEFU" into "Imagine" normal playlist. Doesn't matter to me, I will continue to not listen.
For what it's worth, Easy 93.3 in Lansing is also all Christmas now (and on the same day when there was a possible tornado touchdown near Alma, no less). Not 96.1 WHNN yet, which surprises me as they've gone as early as Halloween in the past.

It is possible I'm confusing Friday night and Thursday night.

I thought I was listening Friday night, but it was probably Thursday night.

Their sister stations in Chicago and Grand Rapids made the flip November 1, for what that's worth.

A cheap overdone , burned out radio promotion typical of corporate radio.

That gets ratings. Big ratings.

And of course they're forced to just plug it into the iheart corporate playlist, which is absolutely atrocious. I once again will not be listening. There's plenty of non iheart stations playing Christmas music to choose from

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. WNIC is incredibly successful with its seasonal Christmas music programming.

You don't want to guess which shitty version of "Sleigh Ride" is playing after they've played Mariah for the 2nd time that hour?

Townsquare isn't much better. The upside to that: neither WFMK nor Cars 108, which I can both receive well where I live, has flipped yet (kudos to WFMK for showing restraint and waiting until the Lansing Christmas tree lighting to make its annual flip; obviously they're not concerned about competition from WXLA). Not sure about River in Grand Rapids.

A lot of people really like Xmas music. To me it's living torture, but it is a ratings getter.

The one that makes me crawl out of my skin is " I saw mommy kissing santa clause" by John Mellencamp.

I won’t even consider Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Even then, I usually only listen to the Cleveland Orchestra Christmas CDs I’ve accumulated over the past decade and a half.

I was at Petco the other day and they had the xmas music going. The nice lady that rang up my stuff told me it started the day after Halloween and will go on until January 1. I said, " Oh I'm sorry you have to deal with that" she said " Thanks! it's going to be a long 2 months" :lol
