Interesting he doesn’t name Amyre Makupson by name.

Shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic, if you ask me. The issue isn't the talent or the management or their set or the size of the weather map, all complaints that I've seen on here. It's that there aren't enough people that care.
Look, people that don't watch the news weren't going to suddenly start watching the news back when this came on the air, and they won't start now because they hire different staff. And, people that were already watch the news are just going to keep watching it on the channel they've been watching it on already. Local news isn't a growing product.
The only possible way they could avoid this would be to hire a bunch of people from one station, because you would have some people switch over to keep watching their favorite person/people. So far as I know, they only hired one person from a local station, the female morning anchor whose name escapes me.

Donald Trump… In your guts you know he’s nuts.
The Resistance begins now.
This is a pro-Democracy account.
Dear America… you were warned.

I hope Paul got a decent severance package.

It is lucrative, more so than syndicated program (besides Jeopardy and WOF)MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 9:53 am "Local news isn't a growing product."
Absolutely correct, which is why I was surprised when CBS News Detroit was launched.
I thought it was a very risky move.

CBS Corporate is in desperation mode when it comes to Detroit.
Bosses at the top knew of the problems inside that station and did nothing. It’s way too late to try to recover the newsroom.
Paul Pytlowany and Lisa Palmer destroyed the place. They hid in their offices as things became worse. Palmer engaged in office gossip too much - while weirdly fawning over Sandra Ali and Pytlowany froze when tough decisions needed to be made.
The HR office should’ve had a turnstyle installed at its entrance.
They hired inexperienced producers, who can’t write, yell back at anchors and managers, can’t build a newscast, breakdown and cry under pressure and lie. Reporters and the anchors will be targeted next. Some should not be on air in that market.
If CBS was smart they should have thrown a ton of money to bring Kim Voet back and make her GM of the station. Instead they went cheap and brought in Lyons, whose Chicago station has sunk even lower with her in charge.
Also , keep an eye on when Skydance takes over. Jeff Schill will be running Paramount CBS.
Expect Wendy McMahon and her team to be gone which will impact local stations.
Also the ad money from the election year will be gone next year.
I think CBS Detroit has a tough unpredictable road ahead.

The producer situation is bad there. Not sure what can be done.

I don't watch much TV news, but I was stunned how poorly this reporter Sarah Michaels speaks. Do they hire people straight from Specs Howard these days?MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 8:03 pm I'd be remiss if I did not mention how crappy channel 7's 5PM show has been of late. In my opinion, both their 5PM and 7PM newscasts have become borderline unwatchable. Glenda Lewis sounds and looks exasperated on the air on a frequent basis, too. I hope everything is OK with her health wise.
I didn't realize you extradite people from cars.

Sarah Michals was Sarah Grimmer when she started at 9&10 News in Cadillac, and brought it down to Grand Rapids/Lansing, then on to Detroit. She's an Oakland grad. I knew I'd seen that face before.
