99.5 down a full point. Not a big country guy so did they go to one of the Top 40 stations (since that's where country is leaning towards), online radio stations, or the Windsor stations?

1270 may fall out of the books if Audacy is leasing it out and Rob Parker doesn't pay for Nielsen. You would think basketball talk with mostly unpolished hosts and rap music on AM would be a ratings bonanza though...

Ratings fluctuate. Has nothing to do with listeners tuning in or out for specific reasons per se. Depends on the month. Busy sports championship month.. sports radio ticks up. Busy news month like auto strike or severe weather.. newsradio ratings go up. Clearly if a station in multiple ratings points ahead of another its a clear distinction, but down a point.. up a point.. they dont care much.

WOMC is also obnoxiously LOUD, muddy and distorted. It's a fatiguing listen, which hurts your AQH.

Lazlo was the worst show to hit this market since Rover on 97.1 when they were still talk.

Skin crawlingly awful radio.

Lazlo's home base station in Kansas City just scored a 2.0 share, a truly lousy result for a heritage station that's had the same format for roughly 25 years.

And one that lost a competitor when 105.1 went hip hop. Something’s definitely wrong there, as they were routinely getting 4-5 shares just a few years ago.

What I found most interesting about this months ratings is that WYCD tumbled from a 7.8% share down to a 6.8% share.
In earlier posts I had said that WYCD would be the station that would climb in the ratings and I was right that it did. I'm
not sure why it dropped by that much but one may think that WYCD reached its peak. Only the next month ratings will
determine that. I don't necessarily believe it has or hasn't reached its peak so we'll have to see what next months ratings
are. I would also like to say that I was pleased that the classic rock station WCSX was in 4th place overall with some
growth. Out of all commercial stations in Detroit WCSX ploys the best music and always wins against the competition
which is WLLZ. WLLZ however did better than last time and now that will encourage I-Heart of Detroit to continue more
of the same on WLLZ. I do believe that WLLZ will continue being Detroit's second classic rocker.

I actually was an Arbitron "family" in the 90s - I had to fill out a paper listening diary and mail it in every week. I can't remember how many weeks it was for back then. I also don't remember being paid. I do know that the current PPM panelists are expected to wear the wristband for at least 8 hours a day and there is a motion sensor to make sure that they do. Some of their lit mentions panelists being involved for up to 2 years. They are paid but I have no idea how much.

Thats right. Some people wearing the meters do so for up to 2 years. I think its more like a year or so. But that explains more than anything when stations make these wild up or down swings. Remember last year when KQI went from a 4.8 to an 8.5? Thats when the panelists changed. All of a sudden, a station has a big drop or fall, its probably around the time Neilsen adds or subtracts panel members. KQI probably added 4-6 "fans" or "P1's" and what do you know?> Their numbers skyrocket. As usual, theres way more to stations operations than just pure ratings. And the ratings are so skewed it really doesnt give the most accurate reflection of listening measurement. Hence why most programming decisions arent made by ratings alone.
