New York’s attorney general says SiriusXM’s annoying cancellation process is actually illegal

It's about time a government entity took note of SXM's dirty cancellation practices. Now hopefully something comes of it.

It should not be any harder, nor take any longer, to "disconnect" from any subscription service than it does to initiate service.

You can unsubscribe very easily through all streaming services like MLB TV, Hulu, Disney Plus, Paramount Plus, and so many more. But with these guys you have to waste several minutes of your time before they cancel. Their retention department is relentless.

Attorney General James also seeks disgorgement, penalties, and costs, and to require SiriusXM to implement a simple and easy-to-use cancellation process.

Hopefully this lawsuit goes somewhere. I dream of the day of hassle-free cancellations!

Looks like the shady practice is about to end. The FTC just passed the click-to-cancel bill. It should take effect in 6 months. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.
