If this goes through, I wonder if they'll finally let you cancel your account online like every other streaming service out there?
Woe to you, oh earth and sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six

If this deal goes through, I'll definitely be cancelling my service.

Why? Liberty has been the majority stockholder in SXM for years

My two receivers will be useless and worthless if they go to streaming only. Why pay for a service I can't listen to?

I cannot picture them leaving in-dash listeners at the side of the road. Some sort of USB dongle will probably be developed to permit continued use of in-dash tuners.
I don't even know what USB dongle means. With any luck, maybe I'll be dead before it comes to that.

USB dongle is when you take a girl to a Motel 6 with raspberry jelly and you...

You know what? Never mind.

I could see them continuing direct-from-satellite service, but as a "basic" service with many of the existing channels remaining available, until the satellite receivers die of old age or bad capacitors.
They did have SpaceX put up a couple of replacement satellites over the past couple of years, so I'm sure they want to squeeze as much use out of them as they can.
Several years down the road (so to speak) they're probably certain that all vehicles will have whatever Generation version of network connectivity as standard equipment, for vehicle systems as well as for entertainment, so SXM or any other audio or video streaming will be delivered that way.

The advantage of satellite delivery is that the feed isn't affected by weak cell areas. If you're in a concrete structure like a parking ramp, different story.

The main issue with SXM is the inability to cancel or suspend service online without having to call and haggle with the sales rep. Granted you can get some sweet deals when you ask to cancel, but the process of cancelling is like pulling teeth and probably discourages a lot of folks from subscribing in the first place.
Shortwave is the ORIGINAL satellite radio.
