Nielsen Ratings for February

The February Nielsen ratings have come out on line for the major markets including Detroit. WCSX is number one with
a 7.4% share. WCSX went slightly up while its classic rock competition WLLZ remained with a 3.8% share. WCSX deserves to
be number one for sure and I still say Beasley is the only radio company in Detroit that understands the rock audience of
the Detroit area when you consider that their active rock station WRIF is number 5 overall with a 5.8% share on top of the
classic rock station WCSX having a 7.4% share.
The I-Heart people had WKQI number two with Top 40/CHR. WNIC number three with A/C, and WMXD with WMXD in
at number six with its UAC format. Audacy had its share of stations in the top ten including sports station "The Ticket"
number four, WOMC the classic hits station an number seven, modern country hits WYCD number eight. and all news
WWJ number nine. Meanwhile Cumulus of Detroit had no top ten stations and their most impressive station was the
hot A/C station WDVD coming in number 12. Between doing best with a number 12 station and considering how under
Cumulus once popular stations WDRQ and WJR have declined, I wonder how long they'll stay in the Detroit market and
if they have any interest in flipping any of their stations before giving up on Detroit.
