Is Alan Campbell gone from WXYZ? I noticed his bio was removed from the website.

Went rather quietly it seems. He posted on his Instagram back on May 7th that he would be leaving in August for a weekday morning co-anchor position at NBC 2 in Fort Myers.

Seems like a smart move to me. Good for Alan.

He went from anchoring evenings in market 14 to mornings in market 53. I realize Florida is much nicer than Detroit, but is it really a step up?

From a lifestyle standpoint, it certainly is. As much as we love Detroit, it's easier to dodge an occasional hurricane as opposed to 5+ months of lousy weather. Bragging rights on market size only goes so far.

Isn't Ft. Myers kind of a shithole? Granted, there are nice areas within a 30 minute drive.
My folks have their winter place in North Fort Myers. Both FM and NFM have their sketchy areas but what major city doesn’t. It’s not that bad and I don’t walk around in fear that I’m going to get mugged

I ponder why going from 14 to 53 is a big deal. I myself don't know him. But I'd make a friendly wager he's not getting a paycut.
I remember when he came to Detroit from El Paso (93). And some folks on here were incredulous over such a large leapfrog.
Like I said, I don't know the guy. He came to Detroit from warmer climates. Is it possible the reason he's saying "Exit Stage Left" is because of one too many Michigan winters? Just pondering.

Ironic. Was just using him as an example about how high profile anchors are no longer brought in to replace departing ones like Stephen Clark. Seems after Clark left 7 just took what they had on hand and created a pot luck lead by Llewellyn and Campbell. Times past would have seen a high profile poached from another market but no longer.

Myself, I think, as soon as 7 heard he was getting the itch to depart, they should of threw enough money at Campbell to keep him. Have him become their "franchise" evening anchor.

Kind of my thoughts. He's probably the same age Devin Scillian was when he came to Detroit.
Is anybody a fan of Carolyn Clifford? At this point I wish they would make LewAllen and Glenda Lewis their main team.

Agree about C. Clifford. How she was elected to the Michigan Broadcasters Hall of Fame is crazy and beyond me. Her hard driving investigative reports are usually pulled off the satellite/wire feed from the network etc. where she offers narration, or voice overs. Or, she is sent out to cover some cream puff story where any intern can ask more "hard" questions.
LewAllen is not a news anchor. When he is reading a story, or conducting an interview, he cannot string a sentence or ask a question without stumbling....every other word, or so is met with "ah", "ah".
