I agree with you, I love the country but once you do the anthem a thousand times it becomes a chore or a reason to get that last minute bathroom break or concession trip done.

Playing the anthem before sporting events gives the false impression that they have some kind of national significance.

Save the playing of the National Anthem for true national sporting events the represent the country, like winning Olympic gold.
