Another waste of programming. Definitely not on my presets on the car radio, IHeart should sell 1130.

If we’re being honest Sports Radio on DFN died in 2009. Still sad to see and what an embarrassment for a great sports city like Detroit to have one mediocre sports station that I for one haven’t listened to in 2 years. I’m curious if we will ever get a decent sports station here but either way I’m fine with my great podcasts I listen to.

That’s what Detroit needs another low budget urban talk station. Now WFDF has competition.

On a side note, quite a few that will be flipping are sports stations -- I wonder if the lack of sports action during the coronavirus crisis is part of the reason for the switch?

What makes a "Great Sports Station" you seek, why is 97.1 sub-standard?

When sports became political is where it started to lose fans and radio audience. The virus didn’t help the situation. Now how long before we see a for sale sign on Entercom’s AM 1270?

Did anyone on 97.1 like Stoney/Jamie etc mentioned the station flip on air?

Probably not, it really doesn’t matter WDFN might have had a few hundred listeners if that.

A quick review of the debut of IHeartRadio's Black information Network: some sound problems that are fixable, it reminded me a bit too much of the 1975 NBC Radio News and Information Service [which if memory serves me correctly then WCAR 1130 was an affiliate of] the anchors are solid, but the website..not enough information. I know its a "Work in progress" but with some tweaks here and there, they got something that could last for many years to come, IHR should give some $$$$$ to affiliates to build up local news departments. beyond that , 5.3 Microphones out of ten. just my opinion.

I listened to it for a bit. There needs to be a hell of a lot more effort put into this if iHeart wants this to last...

The website Awful Announcing had an article about the format flip. Mentioning how 1130 used to be the leader of sports talk in Detroit, but had its slow downfall starting on Obama's Inauguration day in 2009 when most of the local hosts were fired. I'll have to stream it on the internet to see what I think of the new format.
