It's been interesting to watch Gretchen Whitmer use the COVID-19 crisis to build her national profile through numerous media appearances. Thanks to Ingrid Jacques of the Detroit News, we know it's been a very calculated effort:

Also, it's interesting to see how little air time has been given to Whitmer's chief medical advisor, Joneigh Khaldun, whose main job seems to be standing six feet away from Whitmer and looking like a statue. Compare that to the air time given to Fauci and Birx at the national level.

And what does Whitmer use for makeup? Table polish? Her face has quite a shine in TV interviews.

She's great!

She's never met a camera or a mic that she didn't like, she 's also a darling on the channel 7 website, many pics and stories everyday.

Its fairly obvious that she is angling for some sort of Federal gig. If not VP then a cushy appointment should Biden win in November.

The Governor has more screen time simply because its her news conference and most of what she discusses concerns policy. For the medical stuff, Dr. J gets her time. Dr. J is not not in a position to discuss policy.

Gretchen Whitmer is a terrible Governor and from what I understand not a good person.
She has an enormous ego and has always been difficult to work with. Even members of her own staff have major issues with her. Not that you’d ever know that. Leave it to media hacks like Carol Cain to kiss her ass in the Free Press this morning. Another biased reporter? Shocking.
And the polish on the forehead is called Botox. Apparently, her plastic surgeon is “essential.” Must be the only one in the state cleared to work.

Whitmer is a bonafide hypocrite to say the very least.

Khaldoun is absolutely phenomenal. She is fantastic at her job, honest (unlike Whitmer) and she’s working extensively with all county governments and hospitals to get the correct numbers and guidelines out effectively.

I could care less about Botox even though she must use the Tammy Faye line of makeup.

What is unprecedented is the attempted stripping of rights from parents by wanting to give abortions to minors without parental knowledge, then arbitrarily and capriciously stripping rights from individuals, stripping rights of businesses without due-process, and finally stripping rights away from the legislature by rescinding and reissuing identical EO's, which is a clear abuse of process.

She is a narcissist that wants to be the center of attention AND control others. This is a very dangerous individual.

Before the crisis I called Gretchen the Democratic Sarah Palin. As for policy she is pretty much following Mike Dewine of Ohio and J. B. Pritzker of Illinois lead in the shutdown orders by a few days. She is doing a good job of giving Trump the business and that makes his disciples very angry and their target since these protests in Lansing seem more Trump rally than coherent message of grievance.

I understand the stations are on the democratic side, but the Gretchen worship is tiresome. At least ask her one tough question just to have interesting coverage.
