Snowmobilers, skiers and ice fishermen up north are probably pretty happy. :)

Gaylord has received a staggering 171 inches so far this season!
21.6 inches of snow had fallen at Detroit Metro Airport through the season as of last night. About 1.6 inches fell since Midnight. So, that puts DTW at 23.2 inches for the season altogether.

That’s a pretty anemic showing for Metro for the year.

Well, the 35 mph gusts this morning forced a snow day up here. In total we got about 9" at my place. Now it's 12⁰ and there are a bunch of kids playing outside.

This is a decent explanation of what caused snow totals this past weekend to underachieve:

I'm a pretty avid Cross Country Skier and I can say the lesser used trails have a bit too much snow. The same problem can exist for snowmobiling. With thicker snow, you are at the mercy of the trail. You can't go quickly or stay the course you've set.

Downhill skiing has been really good.
