I love CBS Detroit! Seeing the growth from a mi or independent station to a CBS owned station is amazing!
didn't it become CBS owned in 1994?
this post is stale by about 30 years

I tried watching a few minutes the other day.
It’s awful - very small market

Was watching KDKA’a 4 pm newscast today on Roku. It’s very well done. I can see why KDKA CBS News Pittsburgh is one of the better performing CBS O&Os. WWJ should definitely model itself after KDKA, along with WBZ and WJZ.
I’m not about to say that WWJ is awful because I do see major improvement ever since they got a new GM. However, they do need to get rid of that newsroom as a set and get an actual news set.

So, the WBBM GM is poaching talent from channel 62 to take back to Chicago. Nice.
Sounds like a nice opportunity for Kylee.

Anyone thinking they should open a new tv station during a massive decline is already lost. Good luck to those working there. I dont see it lasting much longer.

Most accurate statement.
CBS Detroit could easily close down the news operation again

Closing down operation again is a bit extreme. CBS is invested in Detroit.
I think some obviously want it to fail but it won’t.

A lot of the discussion here so far has pertained to the on-air product, but what about the CBS Detroit web site?
Digital is an important part of the revenue equation.
It usually takes years for an upstart TV news operation to have any decent chance of success. Look at NBC 10 in Boston. They launched about five years
prior to CBS Detroit and remain a miserable performer in the ratings:

Curious as to what Paul and Lisa did while they were there? And why were they allowed to stay there so long if it’s obvious a mess

Why does 62 run zero promos to tout stories that are being worked on for the next scheduled newscast?
The promotional effort around the newscasts is terribly deficient. It was better a year ago.
