One of the last times I was in the tool section at Sears, another gentleman and I were talking about how wonderful it was shopping in the store years ago when it was on top. It was like being at a visitation at a funeral home.

The parking lot has been full - checkout lines stretch to the back of the store - checkout wait was 2 hours. One person defended waiting that long saying it was like earning $300/hr. The pharmacy closed withing a week of the announcement and the accounts were sold off the Wallgreen or Rite Aid.
I suppose that's one way to look at it. Keep in mind that liquidators often hike regular prices before applying discounts. Not to say there aren't deals to be had, but the advertised 90% discount might be closer to 50 or 60%. Not to mention all sales are final, making it impossible to return or exchange a defective item. Liquidation sales can provide some great deals, but there's a degree of risk as well.

The former Kmart in Mt. Pleasant which has been vacant for a while has begun the process of being torn down... about half of it is gone and that was in just 2 days...

I often wonder how former department store chains such as Big Wheel and Ames would survive in today's market if they still existed?

Today we were in the KMart in Kenneth City. The last remaining KMart in the Tampa Bay area. It was like taking a trip in a time machine back to the 1960s.

While my wife was in the checkout line (no self checkouts at KMart, bless them) I checked out the beer cooler. All of the glass doors were covered in brown paper. A sign said "We are unable to sell alcohol at this time." I pulled back the brown paper and looked inside. They had beer. I'm thinking maybe they violated their license in some way.

Nah, some anti-human contact person shook it all up and left it in a cart, they had to wait for the fizzing to stop.

Beer is sacred. I would never ever do anything to defile beer, unless a biker was drinking it.

Not only that, I hear they reserved all that beer you couldn't get for a big raucous party with all those buxom ladies fleeing your home country to get away from that border guy...

What do you have against bikers, Turkey? There could be a few on this message board.

I’ll say this:

Driving anything and drinking is a bad mix.

Doesn’t matter the vehicle.
