Another 4 to 8 inches appears to be a decent bet for SE Michigan this upcoming weekend.

Most will fall from Saturday night into early afternoon Sunday, but a first wave could lead to a couple sloppy inches by late morning Saturday.

Complicating the forecast is the potential for some relatively mild air aloft, which could lead to a changeover to sleet or freezing rain at times, especially Saturday or Saturday night, primarily along and east of a Hillsdale, to Brighton, to Flint line and along or south of I-69.

Suffice it to say, the weather will be lousy to terrible a good chunk of the weekend. We will then receive a blast of Arctic air on Monday, which is expected to last several days.

At least you have football games you can watch... 😁

We get about 30% more snow through next Tuesday.

Football? You mean NFL reruns or soccer? πŸ˜‰

I should've noted earlier that in mid and especially SE Michigan, this is likely to be a wet heavy snow where a shovel full weighs a ton.

Oh, goody. More useless white garbage and temperatures that aggravate polar bears.

The Weather Channel appears to be fearmongering by saying 8-13 inches of snow for us in Warren. I predict closer to what you and channel 7 are saying.

That model output, which I believe is from the GFS model, is a bit aggressive.

I do not think 8+ inch snowfall totals will be widespread in Metro Detroit. I think most areas in SE Michigan will see between 5 and 8 inches. I agree with the GFS model that totals in the thumb are likely to be higher.

Temps in SE Michigan will be near freezing from late this afternoon into early Sunday morning. Most model data uses an assumed 10:1 snowfall to precip ratio. With temps near freezing, the ratio will probably be closer to 8:1. That means we can shave 20% off model snow accumulation output.

There also will likely be some periods where precip takes on the form of light sleet or freezing drizzle (more significant icing is probable near the Ohio border, especially in Toledo).

Ask them if pulling their wiper blades up helped.
