The Labatt beer sold in the US is not made by Labatt. When Labatt merged with Anheuser Busch, The US goverment agency that regulates such matters approved the merger with the condition that the Company could not brew any product at its Canadian operation for sale in the US.

So Labatt outsourced the production to its arch rival, Molson. You can be sure they wouldn't have shared their recipe with Molson. So when you buy Labatt beer in the US, it's really a Molson product with a Labatt label.
Is the Molson Canadian sold in the US identical to the Canadian sold in Canada? Other Molson products sold in the US are brewed in the US by Coors.

Molson Export and Labatt 50 used to be available in the US, but no longer.
