But do they have clock radios?? :hat
Who needs a clock radio? They're garbage. When I travel, I always take along a real radio.
A refresher:
Turkeytop wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 9:09 pm For the past several years our preferred hotel chain, whenever we’re on the road has been Hampton Inn. Clean, up to date rooms and a good breakfast. All for an affordable price.

Last Saturday night we checked into the Hampton Inn in Cincinnati. As I was sitting there having a beer, I noticed the clock on the bedside table was missing. My first thought was that the previous guest had stollen it from the room.

I went down to the front desk to report it. The guy said “we’ve removed the clocks in all of our hotels. It’s a corporate decision by Hilton. We want all of our guests to have their best room experience. We’ve determined that having a clock in the room makes the room appear outdated. Nobody uses a clock anymore. People just use their phones.”

I told him my phone is on the kitchen wall and it doesn’t display the time. Even if it did show the time, I wouldn’t be able to see it from three hundred miles away.’

The guy offered to give me a wakeup call in the morning.

Looks like I’ll have to start carrying my own clock with me when I travel. I’ll need to book a room on the first floor. Might be a little awkward trying to carry a grandfather clock up in the elevator.

You appear to be lacking in reading comprehension skills In the two of my posts from which you quoted, did I mention anywhere that I wanted a clock radio?

Hilarious that someone who can't figure out simple technology, which provides simple user manuals, says *I* lack reading comprehension skills!

Maybe you could let me know what simple technology you're referring to.

I long for the good old days when user manuals required literacy skills. Most user manuals today just show a lot of crudely drawn sketches. At least, I don't imagine words that aren't even there, like you do.

There isn’t a hotel chain on earth that puts only a clock in a room. They all do tricks and things. Like play the radio.

I haven't seen a radio in a hotel in years. Most are clock/USB Chargers these days.

Of course not. A clock would be useless to you. The numbers you'd be seeing would be different than the numbers that are actually there.

Most of the old fashioned, out of date hotels that still provide a clock for their guests, have some kind of a radio attached to the clock. But the radios are garbage. I never use them. I aiways take along my own radio.

I'm just old enough to remember when Southwest was a no frills budget carrier offering flights from Detroit City Airport. :)

I remember seeing their ads during Pistons telecasts in the Chuck Daly era.
Trump is too stupid to know what "reciprocal" means.

It always amazed me that there wasn’t more demand for an airport much closer to the east side. Metro can be a hike for a significant number of people. One would think that with the proper amenities two airports could operate around here.

DTW is a fantastic airport though.

Inside… yes. The traffic situation particularly the departure level at McNamara is a joke. It’s very difficult to get in and out of there because nobody is policing for unattended vehicles and folks standing by instead of going to the cell phone lots. When I come through there it’s constant air horn action to get them to move or calling the police to get them towed. I keep hearing other airports have security walking up and down keeping things moving and there would no chance of this issue. Apparently the Airport Authority doesn’t want to pony up for that.

I generally park in long term, which isn't an issue. The neverending road construction between McNamara and 94 is fucking infuriating.

Yes it is. And it’s scheduled until 2027 and will be year round until then. Fortunately it doesn’t get too bad in the evenings when I’m there but you’re smart to park in the long term and avoid trying to unload and what not curbside.

I find Motel 6 to be hit and miss. I stayed at a nice one in western Pennsylvania a couple of years ago, it was a former Knights Inn that was re-opened as a Motel 6, my room looked to be totally remodeled. So they might have just opened. I've stayed at the one in Traverse City a couple times but that was years ago. It was ok, nothing great but not bad either.

However, I would NOT recommend staying at the one in Parkersburg WV, off I-77. That place was a major dump.

Worst Motel I recall staying in was a Days Inn in Charleston WV back in the 90s, dirty, dumpy, and noisy. A close second is, a Sleep inn in Spartanburg SC, a few years ago. Saw a roach in the hall, I believe there was prostitution going on, and just something seemed off the one night I spent there. That was place was shanasty and snarfy to the 10th degree.
