Another horrendous book for Q105
Re: Another horrendous book for Q105
WTF is Andy Stuart doing these days?
Re: Another horrendous book for Q105
I disagree, The zone did ok on 106.5, so I think there is an audience for something other then boring old steve miller band and aerosmith. The Zone regularly got 3 shares if I recall.. The problem with The zone was, near the end all they played were these obscure light groups, sort of what 94.5 did for a brief time in the mid late 90s(a cluster eff that was). I think Cumulus has a couple of Alt stations in other markets.

Uh, the Zone did so good on 106.5 they bumped it to the peashooter 100.7 signal so they could run 22 hours a day of ESPN radio on FM, and then briefly killed it off for that Vibe disaster.
They played "obscure light groups" by 2013 because that's what Alt had degenerated into. And really, Lorde whom I DESPISED them playing over and over again, wasn't "obscure" at all then.
In what was its heyday, relatively speaking, on 106.5 Zone played plenty of 90's grunge. I used to get a good laugh out of them playing a liner saying "Support the new music revolution!" and then cueing up Smells Like Teen Spirit or Jeremy again in like 2008. Stuff XKR plays plenty now.

Re: Another horrendous book for Q105
the market needs a shake up, we have never had a jack-fm for example. way too much country, too much rap. cumulus Toledo, needs a make over on a few of there stations. What point did the vibe serve anyway?
Re: Another horrendous book for Q105
Can Andy Stuart afford to pay Johny D if they made 105.5 into a JACK-FM station? Maybe just keep him for a morning show and/or a drive-time show too? Then who gets to tweek the playlist? Start out by saying the first 1,055 songs loaded in to play all will be suggested by the listeners from a list of songs from 1955-1985 ?? List could include bubble gum pop, crooners, prog rock, country crossovers, MOR, instrumentals, early new wave and new age (Enya). If they got their RDS working for Song Titles and Artists, that would make it worthwhile adventure in my book, and hopefully get two smoking books from Neilson too. As far as Andy paying slave wages on Arlington, doesn't he already force the DJ's to track 2 or 3 other cities/shows in the Cumulus kingdom? Bill Stuart hasn't done a live show on 93.5 in 10 years, or since the late great Uncle Jim Felton Brady passed away.
Re: Another horrendous book for Q105
Why not let Bob Kelly program 50s/60s Oldies on this station all day?

YES!!! I've been advocating for a Gregorian chant format here for ages! Sure, it's a niche audience, but the advertisers are there!

Could that change have happened because of a complaint from a certain other company that has a "Channel" on the radio?MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 8:02 am Thank goodness the radio station changed its name from Channel 105.5 to Q105.5 / Q105 a couple years ago! So has not being able to decide whether they want to be known as Q105.5 or Q105.
