All of those high-MPH pitches might be making Paul Skenes a candidate for Tommy John surgery.
By the end of the 2023 MLB season, 31 of the 64 hardest throwing pitchers based on Statcast numbers had already had Tommy John surgery. Injury analyst Joe Roegele, who tracks Tommy John surgeries, told USA Today last month that 35 percent of current MLB pitchers have had Tommy John surgery, and that is up 29 percent since 2016.

Meanwhile, the Tigers head to Fenway Park for four games, with a hot right-handed home run hitter (Matt Vierling).

And two of the HRs were by lefty hitters Baddoo and Greene over the Green Monster in left. Love it!

But I read he did play a good first base!

How long before Tork is optioned to Toledo? It’s getting embarrassing at this point.

Hope the kid figures it out and rakes for the rest of his career.

While I've heard he plays a good first base, he apparently plays a better Left Out.

A two-start trip to Toledo for Max Scherzer in late May of 2010 helped him turn his career around. Interestingly, when he returned, he replaced Dontrelle Willis, who was DFA'd after trying for two years to turn his career around.
But it's nice to see Justyn-Henry Malloy get a chance. In 2022, he was the best hitter in the Atlanta minor league system, which in recent years has produced players like Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley (

Tork should stay in Toledo until September. Two weeks won't be enough to solve his issues

Keston Hiura was released, so Torkelson will likely stay in Toledo.
Buddy Kennedy is also out in Toledo with Ryan Kreidler coming back from injury.
Mark Canha is at first tonight in Texas. Justyn-Henry Malloy is the DH.

Kenta Maeda was pulled from his start tonight with an injury after two pitches.
The Tigers also put Alex Faedo on the IL with right hip inflammation.
Mason Englert is staying up. He was being sent down with Shelby Miller returning from injury.
Justyn-Henry Malloy solo HR was the first hit for Detroit in the sixth.

So much for me saying Wentz may have finally figured it out. I should have stood by my comment at the end of Spring Training that he is garbage.
Being left handed is certainly an advantage.

Tork went 0 for 3 in his first game of a doubleheader at Toledo. In the night cap, he went 3 for 4-all singles.
