The last time I had a newspaper delivered to my room was when I was at a conference in Florida many years ago. Recently, I stayed at a place in Ohio, and they had papers at the front desk that they let you have one gratis, but did not deliver to the rooms. If you wanted one, you had to get it yourself.

While up in Traverse City doing some leaf peeping, we stayed at the brand new Tru by Hilton hotel. Guess what we found in our room:

Yeah, it's a new build. It's pretty decent and easy access to downtown, Leelanau, etc.

We only eat at Flap Jack Shack if everywhere else has an hour or longer wait. Even then, we end up waiting an hour there for our food after we order! LOL! (We do like their bloody marys, since the waitresses really like to make them strong :rollin )

I stayed at a 4 star hotel in downtown Dallas in 2015 that had the Rolls Royce of clock radios - the Bose wave radio. It was the upgraded version with CD player, too. :lol

I think those damn things used to sell for $400.

It did have excellent FM reception (the distant stations such as 96.7 and 105.7 came in well) and great sound quality other than flimsy bass.

When I turned it on, I remember it being tuned to the local classical station (101.1 WRR).

At least it has ports on the front so you can plug your phone in and listen to radio stations.

I wouldn't need the alleged ports. I take my own radio along. All I need is a clock, and it looks like Hilton has caved to intense pressure from thousands of guests and reversed their anti-clock policy.

A victory for the working class.

Here is a picture of a recent protest outside Hilton headquarters regarding their alarm clock policy:

I have one in my bedroom with the stupid stacking CD player. I listen to my Dead Kennedys and The Smiths cd's on it.

Hilton isn't a working class chain.

They listen to us. A boycott hurts their bottom line. They don't want us going across the street to Motel 6.

They’ll put you right on their shuttle to get you to Motel 6… no charge and a definite rush delivery. “I’m sorry sir you seem to be lost let us help you out”.
