Our old friend Spencer Turnbull is 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA for the 23-11 Phillies. He definitely needed a change of scenery after all of his troubles with the Tigers last year.

Great article. I'd love to see the Tigers send Torkelson, Meadows, and Keith down to Toledo at the same time, so that none of them feels like a scapegoat for the poor team hitting and they can give each other morale support.
Wenceel Perez was only hitting .212 in Toledo when he was called up to the Tigers, where he's now hitting .302. I'm sure there are other players in Toledo who might gel into productive hitters at the major league level (

I agree, great article.

And Scherzer was a great case in point. However, I'm also of the opinion that you can't demote one-third of your starting line-up, including Meadows and Keith, and expect any call-ups to perform much better. I'm glad Ibanez is back.

Skubal, Flaherty, Maeda, Olson, and Mize this week:
41 IP
29 H
9 R
9 ER
5 BB
48 K
WHIP: 0.83
ERA: 1.98
The Tigers finish 1-5 in those starts.

Forget about Meadows hitting his weight, he isn’t hitting a 7th grader’s! It is at the point where he should be sent to Toledo even before Urshela comes back. Sitting on the bench for a few days hasn’t helped (other than a walk).
Tork’s hit was a weak grounder, but maybe that’ll light a fire in him.
Other than Greene and maybe Carpenter, who can you count on? Perez has cooled off but he still has to play as long as he’s here.

This team has no offense, yet some folks think this team could make the AL central race "interesting."
Such individuals are delusional, in my opinion.
Weren't you shitting on the Lions early in the season too?

I'm starting to see a pattern.
The Tigers management doesn't see what any fan can see: the team needs to demote some hitters to Toledo and give some minor leaguers the chance to do better.
The Tigers PR staff doesn't see what any fan can see: the new Friday uniforms are terrible.

Sounds like Meadows is going down today and Vilade is coming up.

Ibanez has a pair of home runs. Solo HR and three run HR. Baez had a single and stolen base.
Tigers 5, Cleveland 2. 2nd inning.

Maeda was a brilliant signing.
