I think you'd be surprised by how empty TV newsrooms are most days / most hours. Terri was not a centerpiece of the station, either. She was brought on board fairly recently to essentially work part time. You are a making a mountain out of a molehill, I would contend.
Compare that to Suzanne Geha's abrupt breakup from WOOD-TV years ago. Now THAT was something noteworthy. She refused to even be part of the station's 75th anniversary special.
