One of the sketchiest things the new Art Van owners did was to sell all of the real estate in the company right after they acquired it. Then the stores had to pay rent in their own buildings, this business tactic is also one of the things killing Red Lobster.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Ms. Stewart was part of the leadership team at Art Van before they went under. I cannot recall if she stayed with Art Van after the Van Elslander family sold to Thomas H. Lee Partners.

Art Van's biggest problem was all the debt Thomas H. Lee Partners added to the company's balance sheet so that they could acquire the company from the Van Elslander family. The LBO coupled with stupid business decisions and general market headwinds sank the company.

I have no idea how much debt, if any, Gardner-White carries on its balance sheet.

She was never with Art Van. According to her LinkedIn she graduated from U of M with a bachelors degree in 2002 and then spent a year at the London School of Economics.

Her jobs before Gardener white are all government related:
Program coordinator at the Social Science Research Council 2004-2006

Commitments Senior Manager at the Clinton Global Initiative 2007-2009

US Department of Energy as a Clean Energy Advisor 2010-2011 and also Deputy Director of “Sunshot” from 2010-2012.

She has been at Gardner White since 2012.

If she had a normal timeframe for college it would make her 42 or 43 now.
