To catch the history up a bit in this thread, the FCC approved the sale by Nexstar to Sullivan's Landing (with cash coming from Morgan Murphy) on 5/28/2024.

Then on 7/8/2024, the Consummation document was filed with the FCC. Likely indicating that Morgan Murphy began operating WJMN then.

Regarding news coverage:

SBaxley and the rest of us could see the handwriting on the wall, with the first announcement coming out about a week ago:

https://www.upmatters.com/news/local-ne ... marquette/

Text from that post:

MARQUETTE, Mich. (August 26, 2024) – Two Marquette local news stations will soon combine
resources, rebrand under a unified local news brand and expand local news coverage in the area.

Starting September 9, My UP News will offer 20 hours of live, local news per week across the stations including:

5a-7a M-F on WBUP (ABC)
6p-6:30p M-F on WBUP (ABC)
6p-7p M-F on WJMN (MyNet)
10-1030p on WJMN (MyNet)
11-1130p on WBUP (ABC)

Morgan Murphy Media’s WBUP was previously known as ABC10, and WJMN, known as Local 3 and owned by Sullivan’s Landing, LLC, will combine newsrooms under an agreement between the companies.

“We are thrilled to expand our local news offerings and share something uniquely designed for people in the Upper Peninsula,” said Mark Overstreet, general manager at WBUP and WJMN. “We know people who live here care deeply about the U.P. and we wanted to build a local news product just for them.”

“Expect more local stories from all over the U.P. and more live, local newscasts,” said Ben Raymond, news director for My UP News. “We’re looking to showcase the inspirational people, find solutions to local issues and be the best source of information about what’s happening in this amazing part of Michigan.”

In addition to the newscast changes, both stations are undergoing improvements to their over-the-air signals to better serve viewers across the Upper Peninsula.

My UP News will be updating news 24/7 on its website myUPnow.com. Weekend newscasts will re-launch at a late date yet to be announced.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Of notice beyond the Newscasts information is the mention that there are improvements for OTA signals underway.
Cheers!
My best guesses are that WJMN will be added to 5.3 and 10.3 while WBUP and WBKP will be added to 3.x
There is a large section of the central U.P. that is unable to receive ABC programming over the air.
Hey MW,
Are you consulting with them? As of today they do have ABC as the primary channel 3.1 on RF32:
Highlights from their short post linked above:
"As My UP continues to combine the resources of the Local 3 and ABC10 newsrooms, we are working to ensure we are giving viewers the best opportunity to receive our channels in any way they want."
"...you should now have access to our improved channels for ABC on 3.1, the CW on 3.2, and MyNet on 3.3."
Cheers!
Would be really nice if TV6/FOX UP would do something like this since the iron ore mine hills block the signal's line-of-sight to areas in Negaunee Township. The higher elevation here also blocks the line-of-sight from the Marquette translator.
C'mon TV6, do something about it. Never had a single problem on analog.
