The legendary James Spann went to MS State, and he knows his shit. Watch any of his severe weather coverage, and you can see that.

I have to agree with MW, I wouldn't discredit a meteorologist based on their collegiate experience; I would judge them based on their forecasting abilities.

Good grief, I forgot about that mess. I think that is correct, now that you mention it.
Baracy was the chief meteorologist at the #1 news station in a significant TV market. She might be better at this than you think. There are plenty of on-air weathercasters with degrees from MS State who do a good job, and yes, there are some who aren't very good, too.
She has a brilliant on-air presence, and she's no dummy. But that isn't the point. A broadcast meteorology degree is a diploma on competently using a chroma key, not in any way what a bachelor's of science student undergoes nor the knowledge gained thereof.

Maybe I'm just the only one who smells the bullshit from these people who constantly present themselves as unassailable authorities on weather with staff possessing such thin credentials.

Andrew Humphrey has degrees from U-M and MIT (!!!) yet his accuracy was mid pack at best.

I do see Ron is not yet a degreed meteorologist and is currently enrolled at MS State. I suspect he'll be working weekends.
I'm not sure what the story was with Andrew's predictions. I don't disagree, it seems his forecasts always discounted possibilities and edge cases and "the possibility of rain" always seemed to turn into a weekend of non-stop rain. How the hell do you whiff on that, repeatedly?

We're just going to have to disagree that there is any sort of credibility on a broadcast anything degree, especially one that combines fluid dynamics with probability models that would make Thomas Bayes rip out his hair. I have long quit relying on local television stations to tell me the weather, there are very good software kits that run in my pocket that do just as a quality job of television talent without the self-aggrandizing.

Started on air at a class A FM in Monroe, then to WCZY. Landed in DFW quite a long time ago.

Ron Hilliard is coming over from WEYI/WSMH Flint/Saginaw.

Both start after the 1st and their roles will be announced then.

Did Ashley like to wear some adorable "F*ck Me" dresses while on the air when she was with WDIV back then?
Ok ok inappropriate observation but true...

Intentional, I just left off the "not the first time that's happened", which definitely made my reply "wtf is this guy talking about" material.

Making DJs into news anchors doesn't always have to turn out badly.
