Erica Francis out at WJBK

I wasn't quite sure of Erica in the beginning.- (Lots of makeup and all that.) But, quickly became a fan.
She is smart, attractive, and cool and comfortable in front of the camera, in-studio and out. Live shots were always good with her in them.
Too bad she is moving on.

For someone as bright as she is, she sure likes to play dumb when bantering with her coworkers when she is anchoring. Erica also makes comments on news stories that make no sense. I don't know if she is trying to play cute or downplay her hight intelligence. Great feature reports, though.

She is excellent as a hard news anchor.

Putting her on a morning show loaded with filler & inane chit-chat is not the best use of her skill set.

Sounds like she's found the right role at WFLA-TV in Tampa.

Interesting timing to get into Tampa for Erica Francis.

WFLA announced this morning that Stacie Schaible will leave the station in January. She is the 4pm and 6pm anchor and has been there for 26 years.

That makes three anchors leaving or left in a year. Two evening and the morning show anchor who left is becoming a stay-at-home mom again.

The filler and banter news station in Tampa is Fox 13. They have their Good Day Tampa Bay. Another obvious reason for her leaving is the commute. She wont have to deal with snow or ice at 3am in Tampa.

Im not a Tampa news expert, but I have taken an interest in it with my parents living in the area.

I had an offer at WFLA a few years ago. Turned it down because Tampa was an absolute dump. She’ll be back lol.

With Detroit TV news, only the good leave young. We're stuck with the same unappealing old fcks from 25 years ago in morning television, like Alicia Smith, Amy Andrews and Jay Towers. So many hotties have left Detroit news over the years. I think Alicia and Jay will stay until they pass away. Amy won't be able to find a job anywhere else, so she's going to keep people from getting a permanent spot at Fox 2 for a long time to come.

Ah. I don’t mean your state of mind although I am concerned for the condition of it. I mean literally devoting some amount of space in your brain to the subject of somebody else’s medical leave and if it’s fair they got it or not on a regular basis. It’s a bad habit.

Sorry to see Erica leave. She was pretty much the only bright spot on Fox 2 mornings. No disrespect for Amy Andrews, but with her ongoing medical issues Erica should have been the permanent replacement. She's a top notch anchor destined for bigger things and a larger market. I wish her the best.

I agree on a loss for Fox 2 and wishing Erica the best. I noticed on her IG post announcing her departure - as well as final on-air words Friday, 10/02 she never once mentions the station in any way. No thanks, nothing at all about Fox 2. Read her post - it read (to me personally) in a tone where it is possible (likely!) she was not receiving what she should have for the very lengthy amount of time filling in for Amy - and still doing special reporting segments. So... have your agent find you an anchor position with full anchor pay and recognition (?) Just my two-cents. Unfortunate as she is a Michigan native and seemed to love being back. Not that long ago, purchased a condo, etc. Hope she is welcomed in Tampa with open arms.
