Week of 9/27 - nice temps initially, then a likely cool down

Next chance of widespread rain appears to be Thursday or Friday for much of lower Michigan, although northern lower Michigan could see rainfall as soon as Wednesday. Let's hope any gloomy weather gets the heck out of here before next weekend. A replay of this weekend's sensational weather appears unlikely.

10/1: 80, 70 (high temp for GR occurs early in the day)
10/2: 64, 64

GFS model run from 8AM this morning; first number is projected 5PM temp for Detroit and second number is projected 5PM temp for Grand Rapids:

9/27: 75, 76

9/30: 78, 83 (wow!)
10/1: 80. 65 (cold front clears Grand Rapids and is on top of Metro Detroit)
10/2: 64, 63 (strong wave of low pressure across the Ohio Valley into western PA and most of New York; this model also projects 100 degree heat for southern California including LA and San Diego).
10/3: 62, 64 (with temps only in the low 50s for much of the Carolinas; this solution seems very questionable).
10/4: 61, 65 (record cold or near record cold temps across a good chunk of the southeastern U.S.)

10/1: 80. 67 (frontal boundary lifts northward the preceding evening, clearing SE Michigan before sliding back through as a cold front late in the day)

10/3: 62, 63 (summer like weather across South Carolina and temps in the 60s for much of North Carolina)
10/4: 64, 67 (big cool down across the mid-Atlantic with 50s to low 60s but deeper portions of the SE stay warm)

And now the much needed rain for some people moving across the state, in 2 waves. Looks like first wave (today) is the front and second wave (into tomorrow) is the remnant hurricane moisture.

Quite cold Friday night (some upper 30s in places), then really cold especially Monday night (possibly widespread frost across the lower peninsula). It does look though like the cold snap will be short-lived with quickly moderating temps by mid week next week, possibly quite warm that following weekend (fingers crossed).

This past Saturday through Tuesday was spectacular golf weather! We were up north near Traverse City and played 1-2 rounds each day.

Fall golf is the best!

Yeah I'll never understand people who like to golf in the 90 degree sunshine. For me 65 and half clouds/half sun is perfect. I've gone out in early December in the upper 40s before.

I'll golf in almost any weather / temperature, but I definitely prefer upper-50s to low-70s with some clouds.

I remember as a youngin' I had a friend whose family owned the local course, so I could golf for free. I would be out almost every day, even in winter, as long as there was still a majority of the grass showing!
