Mechanical Advive Needed

Unread post by Turkeytop »

My self propelled mower is no longer self propelled. When I pull the lever to engage it, nothing happens. The lever just flops loosely. The cable doesn't appear to be damaged.

Mine has a clutch that engages, I think it's a belt down in the innards, to propel it. The unit's manual may tell you if it's user serviceable with a part or needs professional help.

I don't know who built it. The brand is called "Certified." That's just the house brand for a major Canadian retailer.

Yesterday I mowed the lawn by pushing it around, then I took it to a shop for repair. I've had the guy fix my snow blower a couple of times. He's good but he's awfully busy right now. My lawn might be knee deep by the time I get it back

The guy brought it back to me today. In the linkage that controls the drive, a spring had broken. He couldn't get one anywhere so he took an old one from a snowmobile and made it fit. He says he doesn't know how long the fix will last and he couldn't guarantee it. He didn't charge me anything for the repair.
