I was a big proponent of Whittingham. Now, I feel like I have egg on my face.

After one game?

Absolutely. That was an extremely embarrassing performance on the offensive end of the field given the opponent. One of the very worst performances of my lifetime, even including the Brady Hoke era.

The students storming the field after the walk-off Hail Mary TD was somewhat embarrassing given the opponent. I'd also love to know the official explanation for putting a second back on the clock. I can only surmise the official timekeeper had a different reading as to time left than the scoreboard clock. I sure hope the Big Ten didn't orchestrate a screw job. I'd be irate if I were the MAC commissioner, the WMU AD, etc.

This is, in my opinion, the most egregious robbing of a victory from a team on live TV in the history of college football. I mean, how do you fuck that up? They have replay. They have clocks that are supposedly synced to the camera views. And Terry McAulay verified that the on-screen clock was perfectly synced to the official clock. It wasn't even close.

Again, one game. Western moved the ball and ate up clock - they scored no touchdowns. The defense played well enough, but the offense didn't do its part except for the first and last drives.

They regularly drop 40-70 in the Big 12. There is no way they can play this way against Oklahoma and hope to have them have 12 on the last play with some miracle chance to win. Bryce Underwood is the most overrated guy I’ve ever seen. He fucking sucks. How he was a number 1 recruit is something that eluded me last year and it’s worse now.

Whether the extra second should have been added or not doesn't change the fact that Buchanan made a hell of a statistically improbable play to win the game. Michigan definitely played like shit today and hopefully they'll use this experience as a wakeup call.

At most some parlays were destroyed. Not to mention, from the ref's point of view, even giving Michigan another play they were still pretty unlikely to connect on a Hail Mary. Maybe 10:1 odds at the time?

I watched the replay. It was very close, and it looked to me like he did make a gain. Was kinda hard to tell how much.

But that's not as precise and not remotely comparable to a blatantly obvious clock that you have perfectly synced with the camera. The first camera frame where the clock reads 0:00, just look for the ball. If it was at the edge of his fingertips and it was hard to tell whether there's a gap there or not that's one thing. But you could drive a semi truck through the gap. Refs in basketball and baseball make these kinds of safe/out and who was the ball out of bounds off of every single game. But a ref in a feature game can't see a gap that size? Come on.

The only way this was legit is if Terry McAulay was wrong. And he waited a good 3-4 minutes before verifying things. If he was wrong, he really put his reputation on the line here.
