Metro Times had coverage of East Vernor Highway and Mt. Elliot (near Gratiot) was pretty ripped up. Royal Oak had some high winds too.

Indeed, there was a tornado touchdown on Detroit's east side. Looks like another brief touchdown might've occurred on Belle Isle. Radar also suggests a touchdown may have happened near Ecorse or Wyandotte.

The most pronounced Detroit damage occurred in a mostly industrial area probably very near Mt. Elliott Street. Looked like high end EF-1 damage to me. My preliminary guess is 105 to 110 mph peak winds.

NWS survey teams will be conducting surveys today.

I've not yet seen any footage from Livingston County indicative of tornadic damage. I've certainly seen footage of significant straight line wind damage from there.

It would be interesting to see this week's rainfall totals across lower Michigan.

Many more areas were impacted by heavy rains than model data was suggesting Sunday, so that's mostly good since many areas were running rainfall deficits (the Lansing area was not one such region; they've seen plenty of rain recently).

The storm clusters have varied in locational coverage, so I suspect most areas south of M-55 got in on the action at some point.

A conveyor belt of electrical storms and heavy rains has set up shop along and just south of I-96 statewide. I'd expect that corridor to sag slowly south through the morning.

Owosso to Mt. Clemens and points north should just see garden variety rain showers with maybe a rumble of thunder today.

Best chance of any severe weather will be along and south of a Holland to Charlotte to Livonia line down into Ohio. The risk is much lower north of that line.

Getting a pretty good round of electrical activity now… cloud to ground strikes are impressive.

I live in southern Livonia. Plenty of visible lightning strikes hitting ground in our neighborhood and surrounding my house. Watching the neighborhood’s light flicker in unison to the strikes is a bit wild. With the predicted rain, I’m hoping none trickles into my basement. I’m just exhausted from that.

Glad I dismantled my rooftop tv antenna; I don’t think it was grounded properly. Antenna is in my attic now.

In my opinion, the severe weather threat has ended for all counties in Michigan except the Indiana border counties.

The threat continues for northern Indiana and much of Ohio.

There are still over 200,000 DTE victims, err customers, without power.

Several local news outlets are making this info hard to find on their respective websites. I'm sure DTE's spending on advertising is influencing that decision.

I was able to find info quickly on Fox 2's site and WXYZ's site. 7's report was the best.

A tornado was confirmed in Detroit but the NWS site doesn’t have any info on it yet.

The Detroit tornado was an EF-2, 115mph winds, 3.5 mile path, .5 miles wide.

Survey Summary: A fast moving tornado touched down along Hancock
Rd near Ellery Pl where it snapped tree limbs and damaged
residential siding. As it crossed E Forest Ave it overturned an
outbuilding and damaged the roof of the Preferred Meal Systems
building, including partial tearing of the roof and tipping of an
HVAC unit. Portions of the fence behind the building were bent
with areas of sheet metal blown out. A large tree was also
uprooted and fell across Garfield St. Tornadic damage continued to
the Mt Elliot and Gratiot Ave intersection where it detached
traffic signals and snapped several trees.

Damage intensity increased and became more widespread along a
south-southeast path from the intersection of Mack Ave and Mt
Elliot St to the intersection of E Grand Blvd and E Lafayette St.
This included significant damage to industrial buildings along
Bellevue St and Beaufait St with roofs partially torn off and
walls collapsed or blown out. Further southeast into the
residential areas toward Concord Ave and Canton St numerous large
trees were uprooted and snapped, electrical and lighting poles
were bent or snapped, and homes exhibited roof/siding/window
damage. Two vacant buildings collapsed along St Paul St near
Concord Ave with minimal brick structure remaining. Also worth
noting, some sheet metal from the Utica Washers building was found
one mile away in a field near Helen St and E Congress St. Damage
in this stretch was consistent with high-end EF-1 to low-end
EF-2 indicators.

The tornado continued tracking along E Grand Blvd over its
intersection with E Jefferson Ave further snapping or uprooting
trees in Gabriel Richard Park. Additionally the sign of the Pekin
restaurant was nearly entirely torn off with a nearby building
exhibiting substantial brick fascia torn off as well as roof
damage.

The tornadic track continued over the Detroit River to Belle Isle
making landfall just east of the Belle Isle Boat House where a
scull boat was blown into a tree as well as numerous trees
uprooted or snapped. Tree damage continued across the central
portions of Belle Isle before ending near the Model Yacht Basin
where the tornado reached the other side of the Detroit River.

An EF-0 has been confirmed in Lincoln Park. 70mph winds, 50 yards wide, path length of .16 miles.

A very brief, weak tornado touched down along Fort
St near Memorial Park before tracking into the park and lifting near
the Senior Center. Within this narrow path, the majority of trees
had large limbs snapped with a handful entirely uprooted. Electrical
transmission lines along Fort St were bent with wire damage.
