WMGC HD2 & W256EA flip formats, but nothing new

Unread post by hb2 »

As of this evening, upon listening to Detroit Praise network on WDMK HD2, they now have a longer TOH ID, upon further checking WMGC HD2 and W256EA now are part of the Detroit Praise network. They now have the format simulcasting on 98.3, 99.1 and 99.9 on analog FM and WMGC 105.1 HD2 and WDMK HD2 now. This has not been this way for more than a few days

Could this potentially mean Beasley is preparing to shed WDMK if the translators at 98.3 and 99.9 are formally moved to translate WMGC HD2 or they discontinued the Spanish music and just need filler programming? Time will tell

If selling 105.9 is in the cards, K-Love might be the first in line to purchase 105.9 and flip 102.7 to Air 1 and 105.9 to K -Love. That would be excellent.

WMGC-HD2 feeds W256EA.

I certainly wouldn't rule out a divestiture of WDMK, though.

Flipping 99.1 to The Praise Network makes sense. The Regional Mexican format likely was generating zero revenue for Beasley. I figured it would be a goner once 93.5 was sold.

As for K-love maybe purchasing WDMK, this would be of no surprise to me at all.

As for W256EA, yes I knew it translated WMGC (HD2), but thought that *if* a potential sale of WDMK came along it could then be the host station of the 3 translators 98.3, 99.1 and 99.9.

Edit below:
Adding 99.1 will supplement DPN's analog coverage if kept as such. Having 93.5 and 98.3 simulcasting was redundant as both largely overlap the same areas. 99.1 of course screams down my tuner's throats at my location due to close proximity but generally speaking is a signal boost into NE Oakland/ NW Macomb counties, areas on the far fringes of 99.9. 99.1 would once again be on my radar for listenership but still wish it was just a bit farther away than it is (same with the WKEG 103.1 translator)
