Don't you have to pay that if you have an agent at the SOS renew your plates or license too?Circle Seven wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2026 8:48 pmI do have one small minor beef with the SOS. If she could pull off that same magic as a Governor I think it would be good for that state overall.
How about waiving the "convenience fee" for the one that is inside the SOS?
I'm not grumbling about the self serve kiosk's inside the Kroger or other retail places.
Just the one inside the SOS. The one the SOS receptionist points at and says I have to use when I want to renew my plate or license.

We can't just stroll up to the counter of the Secretary of State and renew our plates or drivers license anymore.
Have to either make an appointment for next week, or use the kiosk.
I'm just thinking if the only way to same day renew at the SOS is the kiosk, any convenience fee for using it should be waived. It don't take cash btw.

I don't miss the days of "strolling up to the counter" and waiting in line without any sort of placeholders, potentially for hours. Be done with those days, hopefully never to return.

I never had to wait long. I would always go 10 minutes before closing time.ZenithCKLW wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2026 2:24 pm I don't miss the days of "strolling up to the counter" and waiting in line without any sort of placeholders, potentially for hours. The Dead Come Alive at a Quarter to 5. They would move quicker than Usain Bolt when it was time to go home.

I haven't had to walk into the SOS since before COVID. I just got a new custom plate and did it all online. She made it so convenient that you somehow have a problem with the convenience.Circle Seven wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2026 2:10 pmMy point was this:km1125 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2026 10:59 amIsn't the "convenience fee" for using a credit card? Why would you stroll up to the counter when you can do it all online without leaving the house?Circle Seven wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2026 2:10 pm My point was this:

Also, why would you wait until the last minute to make same-day renewal even necessary?
