What formats can I choose from to answer the question? I am thirsty for a new presentation, even if it has familiar music. I am beyond parched from the "profitable" Classic Hits, Classic or Active Rock, Country, Modern AC, and syndicated Talk formats to choose from.

I don't know if there is any decent fit for variety hits in Detroit as all the other music format stations are doing decently.

A 90s and 2000s station would compete with not only the Bounce, but WNIC, and Alt 98.7 as well, if the playlist is similar to Q105 in Toledo.

I think a classic soul fornat would work well on 107.5. Hot 107.5 has never had great ratings compared to WJLB.

That's why Jack FM is geoblocked. Only heard in The USA. Sorry, but I face the same when trying to stream content from Canada. I honestly think it's unnecessary. Do you have Apple Music or Tunein? If so try those apps. Let me know.

It would be nice to have an EDM station with all the history of Techno in Detroit.

An HD2 station option, or maybe weekend summmer programming at best.
Yacht Rock weekends would be a perfect fit for either WNIC or WOMC. Start at 3pm on Friday's and end at 8pm on Sunday's

Nobody listens to Q105 in Toledo. The Detroit market isn’t that much more diverse to say it would work here.

Are there any successful commercial EDM stations? It’s not my type of music.

93.5 in Miami is the only example that comes to mind. Ratings are decent given the limited signal. Whether or not it is profitable, I have no clue.

Revolution 93.5 (WZFL) in South Florida does fairly well (1.9 6+ - beating iHeart's Hip Hop station) considering what a niche format it is. Of course, Miami is not Detroit.

I personally don't see need or room for an Adult Hits format. As we saw with Doug FM, it would just end up being another station playing Don't Stop Believin' 4x a day in the end. Not distinct enough from WOMC IMO. I also think The Bounce already plays enough of the music that was big in this market during the '90s and '00s for a '90s/'00s type station to be redundant as well.
There are plenty of formats I'd like to have back - Soft AC, Classic Soul/Jammin' Oldies, Smooth Jazz, Nostalgia - but that doesn't mean they would work or that 95% of their audience wouldn't be 60+. Classic Soul would probably be the most viable of those and WGPR would be a great place to put it.

I always wondered why a Softer AC focusing on 1985-2005 wouldn’t work as a format. Maybe with most emphasis on 90s music. And then maybe more upbeat music on the weekends.

That description sounds a lot like the former 98.7 The Breeze, a station I actually liked.

I might be interested in EDM. Would it include early 90s euro dance? Moby? Tiesto? Daft Punk? DJ Shadow? The new stuff? That’s a wide genre that means many different t things to different people.

That’s what I was thinking of, but updated about ten years forward…and with a bit more than a 250-song library.

Can I be honest here? I don't think anyone cares anymore.

With most markets and with most owners, you're gonna get a handful of formats:

Country
Classic rock (or a classic hits catch all)
Jesus
Some form of talk (news or sports)
An urban AC leaning format

Mainstream (active) rock blows, modern country blows, CHR blows and don't even get me started on "standing highhhhhh on a mountainnnnnnn" CCM stuff.

If I really had to pick one, I'd love another rhythmic AC. The world sucks, the country sucks, everybody is on edge, I think it would be great to have something on commercial FM that moves a little bit. When time didn't suck so bad.

Just, please. No more formats with Journey, Queen or Morgan Wallen.
