Cinderella by Firefall. It is about a guy in the 70’s who’s mean to his girlfriend.

I think I’m going a Country Rock/Yacht Rock kind of thing. I can not stop Googling “Poco.”

Song went to # 34 (Billboard Hot 100) on May 14, 1977. The word "god damn" is used in the song!! No wonder why Archie Bunker ("All In The Family") said that to Edith in an episode!! https://songmeanings.com/songs/view/353 ... 858604362/

In the Eagles 1977 song "Life In The Fast Lane", singer drummer Don Henley also said, "Haven't seen a god damn thing". Back then The Big 6, 600 AM WTAC in Flint used a guitar lick but damn was used!! When I watched the 1969 movie "Easy Rider" on WNEM 5 Sunday night in the early 80's, the Steppenwolf song "The Pusher" also blanked "god" instead!!

Pulling out and playing the top 40 songs from this week in 1986. Next week 1987. I'll comtinue through 1990, then go back to 1955 and start over again, year by year. Helps keep me familiar with my music collection and what I may need to replace. At my age, gotta do something to keep yourself occupied. : )

Not a bad idea! It's for the same reason I listen to reverse music. Our brains have to have order and reverse isn't exactly "order". Plus, as a musician, I'm always looking for patterns and ways to find new melodies.

I like your stopping point. In the 90's, pop music splintered into many different directions, with less crossover. The rise of rap, hip hop, and country rock was a big part of that.

Actually if you think about it it would be funny if the band Cinderella covered the Firefall song.

I've been YouTube binging on Courtney Barnett. Her deadpan delivery with that Aussie-tinged drawl simply charms the hell outta me.

She does a phenomenal cover of Speedway Boogie on the Grateful Dead tribute album. I really enjoy her album with Kurt Vile.

But for me today; Grocery Muzak

I've been indulging in an extended Courtney Barnett/Kurt Vile live set on YouTube with a beautiful seaside backdrop. They certainly sound like kindred spirits. Nice stuff!

Currently watching a roughly half-hour 1968 film on YouTube of the Rolling Stones in studio working out "Sympathy for the Devil".

Currently listening to an artist I've admired for years, one of my favorite female singer-songwriter-poets whose breathy waifish voice and reportage of all things Big Apple is constantly appealing.

An Evening of New York Songs and Stories
-Suzanne Vega

The album was recorded live at New York's Carlyle Club. Her anecdote of first seeing Lou Reed leads into her rendition of "Walk on the Wild Side".
I wish I had seen her when she played The Ark in Ann Arbor several years ago.

For some reason I find myself listening to Frank's Wild Years this morning. An underappreciated Tom Waits album.
