Rcently retired Terri DeBoer, former WOOD TV8 and more recently FOX 17 meteorologist just announced she's running in the GOP primary to represent MI-3rd in the US Congress currently held by Hillary Scholten (D).

I never thought serving in Congress would allow DeBoer time to visit her grandchildren (5 soon to be 6) who are living in other states including Seattle WA.

Less than a month after her FOX 17 2nd retirement maybe seeing family wasn't as appealing as $174K salary and perks.

DeBoer said that while working a full-time schedule this winter, she realized that it was time for her to step away. During that time, she "navigated the deep personal loss" of her mother, who became ill and passed away. She said that all of that reminded her that "life is short".

She said that she's been so busy that she has yet to meet her newest grandson.

Travel, and lots of it, to spend time with her family. DeBoer says that she now has five grandchildren (with number six on the way) spread across three different states.

A flight to Seattle for some long-overdue snuggles with the newest member of the family.

Aside from that, she says that she's "looking forward to exploring my 'what’s next'!"
