Moves at Windsor’s 89X, 93.9 Virgin Radio

Hannah Witherbee and Jonny Parks are waking up Windsor with The Morning X With Hannah & Jonny beginning Tuesday, Jan. 6. The program is available weekdays on 89X from 6a.m. – 10 a.m. ET, and streaming live on iHeart.com and the iHeartRadio Canada app. Making the move from across the hall at 93.9 Virgin Radio, Jonny Parks begins with 89X on Tuesday, with Hannah joining the show following her maternity leave in September 2026.
“It’s a H*** honour to a be part of such a legendary station,” said Jonny Parks. “We’ve had so much fun waking up with Windsor over the past five years on Virgin Radio, and now having the chance to play the music that I grew up obsessed with on 89X is the cherry on top.” Taking over at 93.9 Virgin Radio are Kim Scott and Lexie Farrer. Their new morning show will begin on Monday, Jan. 19.

If she were to take the max combined job protected pregnancy and parental leave in Ontario, she could stay off the job for 1.5 years. Any other new parents that haven't given birth get about 14 months.

It was exciting for Radiophiles, sure, because we haven't seen too many format changes in recent years.

But they should have had LIVE and LOCAL talent from the day it was launched.

It's been a Spotify playlist, for the most part, since that launch and only NOW do they introduce a morning show - with half of that show not even on the air for more than half a year?

It's like 98.7 with Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. The most interesting thing about 89X is that the Canadian Content is pretty cool and uniquely theirs.

They don't seem to be picking a lane, as far as general sound, but I don't know if they need to. You can pull from different genres to make a unique mix and it might be a relief from the same-y sounding stations all over the dial.

And, while I know that because of one horrible human being that tensions between the US and Canada are at an all-time high - for no good reason, but this strategy of ignoring Detroit is absolutely stupid.

So here we are - after the new car smell has faded and it's just another car.

I think they could have done so much better with this re-launch.
