Watching the 11pm News tonight, and the meteorologist has to be new to the station and area... He was talking about the snow totals, and his ability to pronounce cities was horrible... Caro (KAY-ro)... I cringed.
I'm not knocking the guy. But someone needs to explain how to pronounce some city/town names.

Weekend Meteorologist at ABC12
Re: Weekend Meteorologist at ABC12
They’re using meteorologists from the Weather Channel on the weekends now.
The quicker Byron Allen sells ABC12, the better..

Weekend news looks like high school announcements.
12 has really gone downhill since Allen bought it.

Tiffany Maddox is good as a news anchor but, much like Angie, shouldn’t be doing sports. To me, it cheapens the look of their news product and looks like a small market newscast.whitebalance wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 7:10 pm Weekend news looks like high school announcements.

Byron Allen’s corporate staffing cuts in ABC12’s newsroom just are sad. I can see why Matt Franklin left. As JR is 60, I can’t see him sticking around when his contract expires if AMG still owns the station. I thought SJL did some stupid moves when they fired Bill Harris and Joel Fieck but AMG takes the cake…

I think ABC 12 had about 130 employees while under Disney, I am guessing they only half of that (or less) currently.

Agreed. You can program newsroom cameras ahead of time now. And… only really need someone for KYRON. The anchors have control over the prompter by foot peddle as they always have.
It’s the volume of reporters and large anchor teams that have dwindled, even in large markets. Operators are “sharing” the remaining people in those roles, between units and even nationally.
