He would be great on WWJ.

Guy Gordon was abysmal on WJR, during his afternoon call in show as well as the morning show. Zero chemistry with the morning team, and a poor interviewer (though not as bad as Paul W. Smith).

I may actually give the WJR morning show another listen now that he's gone.

I used to listen to Renwick, but quit about three years ago. About every two months I will listen for a few minutes to see how it's going. Those callers are not living in reality, and it's beyond sad.

I agree that chemistry was severely lacking. The fact the GM refused to allow him to remain in mornings despite his willingness to take a massive pay cut suggests to me the station was dissatisfied with ratings performance in that daypart.

Guy Gordon is a nice man but should have never been given the morning slot. WJR should have offered Tom Jordan the morning host position instead. Now both are gone.

With WWJ without a morning anchor, now is the time for WJR to pivot to news intensive morning and afternoon drive time shows. Bring back some form of actual local news, and ditch the "analysts" and brokered interviews.

Guy Gordan, although he seems like a gentleman, was pretty down the middle for me. Never really took an opinion on anything. I stopped listening regularly to WJR, only now for the occasional Mitch Albom show. The station doesn’t really get it anymore.

On Monday, I saw Colonel Flagg on a rerun of Seinfeld. This comment is totally on topic.

I once met Guy and he seemed like a really nice guy. I wanted his stint on WJR to work but it never clicked. Interviews were just softballs and he tried so hard to be neutral that it often came off as lukewarm. I've pretty much given up on WJR except I tune in to Mitch sometimes and have to admit that I always get a LOL from that show. But it's male boomer humor that has a narrowing niche. How far WJR has fallen!

Wjr is not the same as it once was, but yet are any of us for that matter?

It’s evolved…. Or de-volved and the days of JP and such are long gone.

WJR to me meant something and still does, but mainly in memory form when they had the Tigers radio play by play and Ernie.

Not sure what it’s gonna take to get them back to glory but someone should do something if the station is to survive
