Interesting article discussing Newsom's appearance on Bill Maher. He's not wrong.
Bryce and LLoser101 need not respond...
Gov. Gavin Newsom of California said on Friday that the Democratic brand was “toxic” and that his party had to admit its own mistakes, delivering tough love as Democrats struggle in their fight against the Trump administration.
Mr. Newsom, once considered a liberal combatant, has embarked on a political soul search in the months since President Trump won the White House and Republicans won both houses of Congress. On Friday, he used his strongest language yet to criticize his own party during an appearance on “Real Time With Bill Maher.”
“The Democratic brand is toxic right now,” he said, pointing to a recent NBC News poll that showed Democrats with a 27 percent favorability rating, the lowest in at least a generation.
283,000,000 Americans didn't vote for Trump.

Did he happen to give specifics on why? That's going to be the first step towards actually fixing things.
Until there is agreement among leadership concerning the key problems, nothing will get done. Right now, social security and medicare are under true threats of being abolished or modified in ways that would harm most citizens and people don't hear enough about it because leadership on the left has chosen to prioritize literal non-issues and taking positions that are silly or that run counter to what citizens want. I think this should illustrate how steadfast people are against the nuttiness that the left has proposed, and I say that as a lifelong dem!

My gut tells me Jon Stewart would make a decent President.
Some years back he did that congressional testimony and did a pretty decent job making his case so you may be right.
I'm watching him along with the other Daily Show correspondents lately. He's been doing really well criticizing everything lately. He has stated that he does not want the job though.
I heard Slotkin on NPR yesterday. She was very clear about how tariffs will hurt Michigan Agriculture and Automotive industries. She would not take the bait to criticize Trump directly, after two attempts by the host. "Let's wait and see what's happens" was her repeated response.
I don't know how this is a good strategy...

I did not listen to the interview, but based on your description, it sounds like she was talking out of both sides of her mouth.
I think she doesn't want to make this about Trump as much as the Tariffs.
